Gig Review: Swervedriver at the Freo.Social
Okay, it’s been a while, but I thought I’d bring the blog out of retirement as this week saw the return of one of my favourite bands to Perth, specifically the Freo.Social. To start off…

In case anyone else is going to see #Swervedriver at #FreoSocial tonight, I thought you might be interested to see what else they've played (alongside "Raise in its entirety") on this tour.
If you're a fan and going, feel free to drop me a message. I'm going to try to be there good and early.

In an interesting trend of massive Tory-based self-deceptions, this excellent article identifies the key disconnect after Kemi Badenoch declared herself a Terry Pratchett fan.
Has Kemi Badenoch actually read Terry Pratchett?
She claims he’s her favourite author, but his books have a few lessons for her

Has anyone written a book with (multiple) foreign language words/sentences in it?
Did you translate the words, and how (e.g. a glossary, footnotes, endnotes, square brackets, etc.)?

I enjoy a well-thought-out, rule-based magic system in fiction as much as anyone, BUT I also think that we should give more props to what Terry Pratchett did in the Discworld books, where it was less about rules and more about vibes and, more importantly, what fit a given story the best.

My favourite part of Albanese's acceptance speech was when he told off an audience member for cheering Dutton's loss and said, "In Australia, we treat people with respect." Hopefully this is indicative of how the next four years will go!

With the #AustrlianElections coming up soon, I thought it would be a good time to remind people that if they don't want this country to turn into an analogue of... that other one *shudder*, then you need to make sure that Dutton and his cronies don't get into power!

Is it okay that I pronounce DOGE as 'doggie.'
I don't wish to be offensive but I just see the word and I hear my mind say doggie.
Maybe we should all pronounce it that way.

A new meaning of "ambiguous" which I've not heard before, meaning "non-existent"!
Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:
-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.
-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.
