A big part of the problem is that even if we got “the right leadership” the American electorate has demonstrated it will readily install a maniac ganster to replace them if the economy ever stumbles. You can’t really plan long-term alliances with that sort of partner.
The amount of damage being done is incalculable. It’s going to take years and years for America to recover - if we have the right leadership.

Diesel new highs, China crude making new record premiums vs Brent, backwardation accelerating, tanker rates exploding. All of this suggests the crude market is tightening rapidly because China has stopped relying on strategic draws. Much more impt than the US SPR if it sustains.

Don't have time to fully comment on this article, but I would love to see a parallel article about the much more plausible assertion that the Republican party, from the President and the VP on down, has been captured by right-wing extremists.
Republicans, Facing Midterm Peril, Try to Brand Democrats as Communists
Communism, in the president’s hyperbolic telling, is a graver threat to the country than the Pearl Harbor or 9/11 attacks were. Whether this midterm strategy works is an open question.

It's telling that nobody involved is even pretending to defend this on policy grounds. There's not even a facade, a patina, of policy rationale. Just brute power politics.

This was Colorado's hottest summer on record, and it wasn't even close. Average statewide temp of 69.4° beat the old record (2012) by 0.7°, a wide margin.

It was also Colorado's hottest August on record, and it's our hottest start to a calendar year on record as well.
