come for a great bit o’ discourse on evangelism, stay for the armadillo
Side note: a random priest was once like "You have friends who aren't Christians, what'd you say if they asked you "who is this Jesus guy?""

And I had to be like "dude, weird evangelism implications aside, nobody in twenty first century England has ever asked that question. What is wrong with you?"
Here's my thing with evangelizing: do they think we don't know? That Christianity exists??? That we somehow missed it??????

Dear God. What a cruel, self-absorbed man he is
Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum.

Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.

🚨🚨 Minor update again on "mature" (though racist) reaction from far-right #Sverigedemokraterna on the loss: blames political mobilisation of immigrants by left-wing parties, no free elections & Social Democrats previously granting citizenship to 200.000 immigrants.

New update on #Swedish elections. At this stage 21.48 tonight nearly all the final remaining election districts have been counted (302 out of 314) and the mandates between the blocs are unchanged, 176 for the social/left/centre bloc and 173 for the right/liberal/populists.
Update; election results are in and as suspected the results are very tight. Currently, the social/left bloc holds 176 mandates whilst the right/liberal/populist holds 173 mandates. Final counting is expected to be finalised by Wednesday. /1
🚨🚨 Just placed my vote in the ballot for the #Swedish #election upcoming on Sunday. Brief 🧵

Lucky us. We tried to register for free tickets for this, failed, but stood in line anyway to grab any spare seats - and just squeezed in. Ikumi Nakagawa was an outstanding Suor Angelica, one to watch for the future. Wonderful voice, and hugely moving stage presence even for a concert performance. 😭

Canada aiming to be the 'first associate member of the EU'.

Just imagine who the second could be.
Dear @mark-carney.bsky.social, we want to bring the relationship with Canada to the highest level possible.

I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the EU.

And create a common prosperity and economic security space.

I have since seen that the chair of Piddington parish council appealed to Elon Musk and Donald Trump for help. Appealing for help to someone found by a civil court to be a sex offender over fears of sex offences.
Like an Ealing comedy, but without any charm whatsoever.

Takes a lot of guts to stand on national TV and say this knowing the avalanche of hate that'll come your way from it
Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

All day Piddington's womminfolk have been telling news how they will be terrified of "hundreds of young men nearby, free to come and go as they please." NOT ONE JOURNALIST has asked: "How did you cope when it was an army base? Who came and went then? Nuns?"

Soon as you ask that, all becomes clear.
The people of Piddington have spoken. I say, grant them independence. Border controls. Visas to cross into the UK. Tariffs on goods. No GBP. No NHS. No benefits or pensions.

Let us know when your little lilywhite enclave has gone all Mad Max and you started eating each other. BUH-BYE!

To keep health and care staff in the UK, the Westminster government must scrap the proposed immigration reforms for these staff, reduce application costs, and ensure access to public benefits.

Help us add pressure. Write to your MP today. 📣

Ironically there are “legitimate concerns” you could have about warehousing the unfortunate asylum seekers on a rural military base - it’s not suitable accommodation and will do nothing for their wellbeing or integration or the local community- but acting as if they’re a danger is gutter racism.
Mrs. Owens' quote probably sounded better in the original German.

What a shock, said absolutely nobody.

NB Dan Thomas should not be confused with Daniel "Danny Tommo" Thomas, who is an unpleasant, violent, right-wing shit-stirrer, who... oh, never mind.

Done! On the surface it’s weird that such traditional/‘establishment’ (and frankly, small-C conservatove seeming) orgs like the National Trust, the RNLI, and the Church of England are the progressive bulwark against hate in this country. But it just proves those figures are just a loud minority.

The real National Trust. Vote now to keep out the plastic patriots of Restore Trust
Clearly hasn’t a clue about the founders of the Trust & their concerns . I’d argue that they were extremely political , with a small p. And thank heavens they were .
They didn’t see society as static & monolithic , but believed that change could be a benefit for all .

Quite a few universities have used this tactic recently and I simply can’t understand how it is legal — do our contracts mean fuck all?
Sacking news: I scored 3rd out of 4 and therefore only qualify for a 0.5 post, with no redundancy payment because it's a contract variation rather than a dismissal. My 2.5 colleagues are thankfully therefore OK
