When I originally read the back of this book, I thought I was going to learn about deep sea cables (for the internet). Instead, I was taken on a proud journey about 2 men with different skeletons in this past and how they chose to overcome or succumb to their wounds.

The story behind the devastating loss of the #Lusitania. The luxury ocean liner ferrying people from NYC to England. Sunk by a German submarine off the coast of Ireland in 1915. And essentially the start to how the US entered #WW1.

Fascinating story about these brave sailors and the lives they lived before one of the greatest storms of the century took them. For anyone interested in learning more this 2025 book is worth the read.

The story about the devastating hurricane that hit Galveston Texas in September 1900. A real page turner. Erik Larson is exceptional at telling stories from various historical perspectives and piecing together the past from many sources. I’ll be reading more of his work.

Naturally I had to follow up with this book after the Quantum Revelation. I would love to read more about John Archibald Wheeler in the future.

Exceptionally thought provoking. I came across this book from a mutual on TikTok. She said “answer the call” and a call it was. Worth it.

Germany’s wind & solar surge in June 2025 is huge.

Share of generation: 57.5% — up from 47.7% in June 2024, and double the 28.8% in June 2021.

Output: 21.1 TWh, a 33% YoY jump from 16.6 TWh.

World’s 3rd-largest economy — a clear sign that high renewables penetration at scale is already happening.
