He wrote Our Endless & Proper Work (Belt Publishing, 2021), based on his "Destroy Your Safe and Happy Lives" newsletter.
It really is this simple. Instead of telling trans people that you’ll have their backs some time in the future, if they’ll just wait patiently while you contort your politics to amass power, stand in solidarity with them TODAY and see how much more power it will give you.
It seems to me that if people are worried about their candidates losing because trans people vote against them then they should probably stop running candidates that alienate trans voters.

I do a weekly newsletter that discusses Quaker faith (which is historically Christian, but today sometimes not) through a biblical lens.

This week’s message also doubles as a tribute to the late Wendell Berry, juxtaposing one of his essays with a passage from Paul’s letter to the Philippians.
For Wendell Berry, it came down to two questions: “If you had been living in Jesus’s time and had heard him teaching, would you have been one of His followers?” and “Can you be sure that you would keep His commandments if it became excruciatingly painful to do so?”

“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter's decision, it was not mine. Macklemore's contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me.”

God, Ed Sheeran is such a coward.
Ed Sheeran has released a statement on Macklemore being removed from his tour for speaking up for Palestine:

“I am not complicit. […] Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn't mean I don't have [my own opinions], and it doesn't mean I don't care.”

It never ceases to amaze me how I can start two washing machines at the same time, come back half an hour later, and one has four minutes to go and the other has ten.

MAGA Attacks Pope Leo XIV After He Prays for the Dead of 9/11
The pope’s 25th-anniversary prayer drew nearly 600,000 views on X and a wall of fury led by white-nationalist podcaster Kevin DeAnna. MAGA keeps hoping an intern writes these posts.

Someone suggested some trans folks and their allies “are mad at DEMs for saying things that will actually result in winning elections *with their very specific constituencies*“ and I’m like we have recent data that shows saying those things in Texas or Ohio will NOT gain a Democrat statewide office.

Why not stand with trans people instead of against us?

One of the ways the Dils became Rank and File was by teaming up with Alejandro Escovedo, who the country experts at No Depression named the artist of the 1990s! His solo album Gravity is a great place to pick up after listening to Rank & File.

(Also, he’s Sheila E’s uncle!)
#CountryRockSunday

Punk Rockers the Dils transformed themselves into Rank N File in the early 80s, mixed Country and Punk creating what would become Alt Country in the 90s.. anyway this song is one of their best.

“We’ve got to decide that when there’s an assault on rights, all of us are going to show up for all of our rights.”

Abdul Ey-Sayed has no problem saying it. Ed Markey has no problem saying it. If you’re a Democrat & you have a problem saying it, get yourself a new heart & a new spirit (Ez 18:31).
We're being told that if we sacrifice the rights of some people, then the rest of us get to keep our rights.

We all know that's some BS.

Plus: If you decide to withhold your vote in one race for a Dem who won’t support trans rights, consider writing in the most prominent supporter of trans rights in your state/city/district.

If enough people did so to register even as a tiny blip on the results, maybe the party would get the point.
There's a big difference between withholding your vote from certain Dems and advocating for not voting unless a candidate is perfect.

And, let me also say: If you do decide to withhold a vote for a Dem, go out and vote. Leave that race blank, but vote otherwise.
I correct Will later in the thread and to his credit he posts my correction,

But I do not think it is unreasonable to look at a list like I made of anti-trans dems and withhold your votes from the WORST OFFENDERS, the ones calling trans girls men and advocating for healthcare restrictions.

I remember Amiri Baraka spreading this conspiracy theory in 2002, and the public backlash against him and his doubling down on it when challenged being so deservedly severe that the antisemites didn’t dare to try mentioning it in polite society again… until a few days ago.
incredibly concerning that not one but TWO close friends, both progressive-lib-left, whom I've known for 15+ years both independently and separately said they believe Israel was behind 9/11 in the last two days

the information space out there is BAD, folks. get your friends off tiktok.

My favorite bit is when the French national football team comes out and it’s down to three white dudes. I wonder if they got the real guys.
The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘white, angry old man’s’ advice to go back where they came from.

I’m pretty sure that this lawsuit—well, the interview that prompted the lawsuit—is how I learned the word “bugfuck.”
Writer Michael Fleischer sued Groth and Ellison for $2 million over an interview that ran in the Journal with Ellison. They fought it for 7 years. “This lawsuit divided the comics
Industry for years,” said Shriner. Some people were rooting for Fleischer. #spx

Oh, I get it now. Talarico thinks that if he walks as the gentiles walk, in the futility of their minds, they’ll carry him all the way to Washington.

But he’ll eventually learn they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart.

Like no, I'm sorry, but it's not okay or acceptable for Democratic candidates to be going around calling trans girls (literally children) "men." Acton and Sand and Turek shouldn't do that. It's unnecessarily cruel, it's dehumanizing, it's disrespectful.

It’s a real “foot, meet bullet” moment for the Talarico campaign.
i guess here's my deal

nobody on earth who cares about trans rights and justice needs to or would be arguing about whether James Talarico supports trans people, unless James Talarico made it a question

and dude made it a question

and he sure the fuck didn't have to
