Be a fence.
I propose a ban on rich guys remaking High & Low until we figure out what’s going on.
Ben Affleck, an actor/director I like, has a new film out on Netflix. ANIMALS is yet another remake of Kurosawa’s HIGH & LOW, and it is dreadful. www.vulture.com/article/revi...

If I commented on everything I find upsetting about the entertainment industry these days I'd be no fun at all, but this, specifically, is fucking repulsive, and I want the people responsible for it to pay.

1. This has been incredibly obvious and incredibly disheartening to anybody who watches even *close* to as much TV as I do.
2. I sense the regression for directing might be ever worse.
3. That fact that, without a TCA press tour, TV executives have basically NO visible accountability is... bad.

There are so many people, so many, that love film and want to dedicate their whole lives to making films, in front of the camera, behind it, in editing suites and casting rooms and makeup trailers. And that these locusts can come in and just devour the industry, take it from us all, is devastating.

The crash is one of the most awful things I've seen. The loss of life was horrific. The victims should be alive. I also knew Nicole in undergrad. I don't think that person could ever consciously hurt anyone. I don't have answers, but I hope there's a way to prevent mental crises that lead to this.

I don't wanna COUCH my words here: I know JD Vance, his eyeliner, and absent Ashley Moody are used to running away from people when things get tough because they care more about themselves and their billionaire buddies than the people they represent. But this is my home. /1

I swear, 10 years ago there were Black people at the Emmys! In numbers!

And now that pan over the audience is RNC Convention Cream

It is weird and jarring and shameful, if not at all surprising.

Bodies back at WASP waif, too. smh

Metro Atlanta continues to lead the nation in eviction filings, with over 142,000 cases this year.

Black families, making up nearly 70% of these cases, are disproportionately affected. https://bit.ly/3VxGu3a

if this happens, the democratic president should ignore the stay and keep tearing down the buildling
What are the odds the same justices issue an emergency stay on a highly accelerated timeline blocking a Democratic president from demolishing it?
#BREAKING: By a 5-4 vote (with Chief Justice Roberts joining the three Democratic appointees in dissent), #SCOTUS grants a stay pending appeal in the ballroom case, clearing the way for Trump to continue building the ballroom indefinitely while the litigation proceeds.

It feels a little crazy that @thebroadmuseum.bsky.social has her Infinity Mirror Room Exhibit next to works by Basquiat and Kara Walker without mentioning this. Not to say her art shouldn’t be displayed, but a lot of Black people bought tickets to see that exhibit who might have thought twice.
This review I published when I was EIC by Dexter Thomas, was the article that made it clear that Kusama anti-Blackness permeated her work, and even more disturbing, the art market was trying to cover it up in all sorts of ways.
What the Art World Doesn't Want You to Know About Yayoi Kusama
A new publication tries hard to reinvent Kusama as a champion of racial equity despite her troubling record of anti-Black statements.

TV writers, please use this thread to introduce yourself. Tell people what level you are. What you write. And if there is a dream staff you’d like to work on right now. I don’t have a huge following on here but who knows? Maybe the right person will see this and give you the boost you need.

Some of the richest people in the world want a racial caste system, and they want scholarly backing for that in the form of racist pseudoscience. And a lot of ostensibly non racist people quietly agree, and don’t like to see those who peddle that pseudoscience excluded from mainstream institutions.
