NIH plans to block international researchers on visas from accessing key funding avenue: the K99/R00.

Devastating news for the international research training community, who strongly contribute to US biomedical research. All will feel this great loss!

Science needs your voice!

A proposed Executive Order could give the White House a role in reviewing NIH research grants. It's essential that you contact your elected representatives and ask them to:

👉 Keep NIH grant decisions grounded in scientific merit and expert review

Hoping legal challenges at least delay this. It's sadly impressive that someone involved knows the things most likely to damage the US scientific enterprise
The US President's new proposal to tax international students has been approved by the White House for release this week.

It's an unprecedented $100,000 tax on int'l grads who stay to work after graduation on Optional Practical Training (most grads do), a crucial bridge to remaining by any channel.

The NIH just released a proposal that will apparently hide peer reviewers’ impact scores and percentiles from the research team, their institution, and NIH program officers.

All the better to obscure how funding decisions will be made primarily via political review, I’m guessing.
