I’ve been to this part of Cologne-Mülheim before but didnt't discover there’s a Glücksburgstraße. It refers to Glücksburg Castle on the shore of the lake where the ruins of the Rüde Monastery are located. You’ll be able to read more about the annals of this monastery in my doctoral thesis.

A friend wanted chocolate cake and asked me to Huginn and Muninn. Unfortunately, I only had one black sheet of paper left, so one raven is grey (not my best foto)

I've been working for years with the Swedish Erikskrönikan, and somehow I forgot the fact that there’s a passage in Icelandic annals describing how duke Erik and his brother Valdemar died in prison. 🤣
Text in: Icelandic Annals indtil 1578, Storm 1888, p. 160.

It’s already April, and I feel like the year has only just really begun for me. Finally, it seems I’ve shaken off all the health issues from last year and can now focus on the things in life that are truly important—and also fun.

This year, I want to eat more legumes. So let's start with puttanesca butter beans, slightly modified according to Vegan Richa. What a sauce, deep flavors and so creamy. More of this, please. #plantbased #vegan #beans #veganricha

Has it really been that long? But no matter what lies ahead, Gintama will remain the undisputed number one.
Your local young millennial retro anime historian here to remind you that the following anime will be turning 20 this year and, as such, will now count as retro anime.

What a flavor explosion! Kakife, a water kefir with persimmon, fennel, cinnamon, and star anise. I never would have thought that fennel and star anise would go so well in a drink. Recipe from #weltdermikroben and replaced the mandarin juice with lemon juice. #persimmons #weltdermikroben #waterkefir

I love mung beans! So what could be more obvious than making mung bean miso to finally use up my last koji rice? It's a pure experiment, as I've never done this before. Since mung beans cook quickly, this is a recipe for beginners. We'll know how it tastes in 3 months. #miso #mungbeans #fermentation

I'm standing in the kitchen taking care of my condiments for the next couple of weeks. This time, it's garlic in miso. Peel the garlic and put it in miso. Make sure it is covered with miso on all sides. Recipe from #fairment. #miso #garlic #fermentation

My inner monk just celebrated: another manga/anime title for my list of references to Norse mythology in Japanese popular culture: Tougen Anki - Ragnarok is mentioned, as is so often the case in other titles. #tougenanki #ragnarok #norsemythology #manga #anime

Still on a fermentation high. Here you can see liquid gold, which will be ready to use in about 4 weeks. Garlic honey. The garlic will be nice and soft and caramelized; use it as regular and honey instead of sugar. And sometimes I like to snack on a clove of garlic. #fermentation #garlic #honey

Finally checked something off my bucket list: the old Berlin city wall from the Middle Ages. There is still a free-standing section from the 13th century on Littenstraße, and remnants of the wall can be found built into houses all around. But not much more than 120 meters seems to have survived.

Origami Pikachu, requested by little Lina. It bears some resemblance to Yoda and, in terms of color, to Winnie the Pooh. The instructions are from #happpuppytruffles (YouTube). #origami #pokemon #pikachu

I finally got to visit the Mori Ōgai Memorial in Berlin, Luisenstraße. Unfortunately, it was closed and the weather was terrible, but I still managed to take a photo. As a big Bungou Stray Dogs fan, he is more than familiar to me. #berlin #moriougai #bungoustraydogs

I needed something to read on my commute, and even though I'm not that far into the Tokyo Revengers story yet, I picked up volume 13 and was excited to see “Ragnarok” mentioned in it. I always enjoy seeing Nordic elements in manga and anime.
