Heard someone suggest a reason that kids drink and do drugs less these days is because so many more are properly medicated for Adhd and autism and it's been stuck in my head since

Ireland has the highest concentration of water and power ravenous, pollution-spewing, data centres per head of population in ALL Europe.

We need to unite and fight this.
My god. A Virginia data center ran backup diesel generators full blast for 24 hours, creating a giant cloud of toxic smoke that choked its human neighbors. The government claimed there was nothing they could do.

The NI Secretary reversing the Parades Commission’s asinine decision should and could have happened fast, but when it did happen he had to pissily complain about the people who had made him do his job as he did it.

With one famous exception all NI secretaries in my lifetime have been like this.

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff
And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services.

Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

Data centres are a cancer on nature and local communities.

Yet their electricity consumption in Ireland is almost 10x the European – and well over 10x the global – average.

Digital ad spending on anti trans ads is on pace with 2024 and could potentially exceed it. Despite some reporting that PACs might be retreating on anti trans ads, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Politics is about choices.
Faced with this number, the government chose last week to cut taxes rather than invest in the welfare of its citizens.
For non-Irish folk to get an idea of how bleak this number is we have a population of roughly 5.3 million people

This is nearly ONE FIFTH of the fucking population!

Would like to see a journalist ask the 7 of Ireland's 14 MEPs (3 FG, 3 FF, 1 II) who just voted to:

-endorse burqa bans
-call "hatred of Israel" a sign of "Islamist influence"
-identify European Muslim communities as potential tools of "malign foreign actors"

to justify themselves

If you ever need an example of a Kerry accent, this video has it in all its glory. Yes, it is very different to a Hollywood "Irish" accent. And yes, it is pretty much impenetrable to the untrained (non-Kerry) ear. Healthy bacon, floury potatoes and (I think) crubeens. #Ireland #accents

The bulk (80%) of the money the Irish government give to the racing industry is in the form of prize money (ie race winners get the cash), which is an *objectively* an inefficient and unfair way to distribute government subsidies…
We’ve had to listen to some very unimpressive TDs talk shit about public sector workers needing to prove their worth and up their game. Meanwhile the sight of an almost-empty greyhound track and the yelping of mistreated animals gets them humming the national anthem as a tear rolls down their cheek

The court is basically saying that knowledge of the victim being trans is potentially exculpatory for a self defense legal claim.

This is explicitly greenlighting the panic defense and saying a victims trans status might excuse a murder.
