I talk about geeky movies, video games, bands with women lead singers and other pop cultural kinds of things. Some wrestling content. Never stop punching Nazis.

Some cis people will literally leave their jobs over Joanne's bigotry, and others are mad they're being told not to watch a TV show.

Who our allies are is very obvious to us, and we remember who they are.
Speaking of Harry Potter, I resigned from my position at Universal Studios a month ago over all of the Wizarding World/JKR shit. I am now paying my bills and paying for a wedding purely thru YouTube and Patreon.

I loved working at USH. I was very conflicted leaving. Fuck Joanne.

Well, I would occasionally watch Simmons clips and I listened to that podcast in the past but that is done.

Someone in the comments said they are expecting a right-wing swing from him any time now and... probably, probably.
The Ringer "Big Picture" podcasters are bummed that Bill Simmons loves to use ChatGPT to reanimate the corpse of Roger Ebert on their show, and one of them just learned on air that Simmons' own show is SPONSORED by ChatGPT talkeasypod.com/amanda-dobbi...

I stopped watching two YTers this week because they were normalizing AI use.

Adam Ragusea made a video talking about Hank Green and said AI is a good research tool (stopped video there, unsubbed).

The Action Lab said they used their AI sponsor to parse scientific papers. Not watching again.

calling it now: taylor lorenz and brianna wu have a podcast together by next year called Cancel This! or something equally stupid

She's likely just fishing for sponsors, but what makes it egregious is Taylor has been trying to build a brand around being critical of the tech industry's attempts to destroy life on earth and it's massively hypocritical to admit you can't tie your shoes without Anthropic.
Taylor Lorenz listed out all the generative AI apps she uses for Substack, including Elon Musk’s Grok, and is shocked her followers are mad.

She wants to have it both ways: to present herself as critical and progressive while still getting to take the same immoral actions as people who don’t.

Politics is fundamentally about whose interests are promoted, whose needs are met and how power and wealth are apportioned. If there’s no discussion about this in politics and there is instead relentless hateful screaming at various menacing internal enemies, it should be clear what is happening.

TIL the former CEO of the company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club is now the chief executive of the company that owns Life Magazine (and a bunch of other media), a company backed by the now co-owner of the Lakers, Josh Kushner (who is also Jared's brother).

So grifters gonna grift always.

It boggles my mind that in the 1970s, after Watergate, the GOP was legitimately worried that they would never win an election again because the Democrats were the party of social programs, which were wildly popular.

Democrats forgot this after decades of tax cuts.

Run on that shit, dumbasses

there is no such thing as "age verification."

All "age verification" is actually "identity verification."

You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper.

But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware.

Period.

Hey everybody. I’ve seen the statement by Matt Karch, the CEO of Saber Entertainment, and all of the truly horrendous things he said about me. I think it should be obvious to anyone who reads that statement that he’s lashing out because he did not want people to know there was AI use in the game.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

Just a little PSA- Neil Gaiman has reactivated his Bluesky account. Because he deactivated before a lot of people could unfollow him, and/or because Bluesky doesn’t remove you from a person’s followers when you block them, a LOT of you are still publicly listed as following him. You should check.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

Local Community Defense would make this a LOT more difficult to stick as a new norm.
