One of the worst things about the Senate’s attempted Fauci show trial is how the supposed evidence against him is early in COVID he considered multiple hypotheses, then increasingly ruled some unlikely as evidence came in.

I think this is true for a lot of these right wingers. They're bad at their jobs and often kind of dumb geberaly, but they are smart enough to know they are completely outclassed by actual experts. That stings even more when the expert represents another country
I've mentioned this before, but one reason Navarro, a talentless hack and liar, hates the Canadians is because they are extremely skilled and technically orientated trade negotiators and he keeps getting outplayed by them in any actual detail-orientated agreement.

The strategic reality should be clear by now. Each night of US strikes and Iranian sideways retaliation, makes the US weaker and Iran stronger. It depletes more US stocks, makes the US look weak to its partners, and reinforces to the Iranians that their strategy is the right one.

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”
It’s very telling that opening your publication to MAGA “thought” requires a massive downgrade in quality control.
