Waymo’s robotaxis keep blocking bike lanes.

It’s emblematic of a bigger problem. When passenger convenience and public safety conflict, robotaxi companies will favor the former.

🧵 about my guest essay in @driverlessdigest.bsky.social
Why Are Waymos Still Blocking Bike Lanes?
Waymo's robotaxis are marketed as dramatically safer than human drivers. But persistent bike lane incursions reveal an uncomfortable tradeoff: when safety and convenience collide, which one wins?

Reading the news about Cesar Chavez is deeply disappointing. Grateful for the women who spoke up and shared their truth. Women’s leadership has always been at the heart of movements for justice. It’s time to rename Cesar Chavez Day to Dolores Huerta Day.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

A traffic violence story doesn't get more American than this.

A man whose wife was killed crossing the street advocated for a signal and was later killed at the same intersection himself.

Neighbors have been asking for a traffic signal there for 40(!) years.

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

I am doing my best to respond to this without a string of expletives. But let's be very clear. What just happened in Minnesota was cold blooded murder of a civilian by out of control federal agents, aided and abetted by the entire Trump administration and their fascist enablers.

hey @nytimes.com learn how to write a fucking headline. An ICE agent murdered an innocent woman in Minneapolis and Kristi Noem lied to make sure no one is held accountable. This aren’t two-sides to this story.

Congestion pricing is working: it's not only lowering traffic and generating valuable funds for transit, but as a recent study out of Cornell shows, it's reduced air pollution by a whopping 22% in the zone, with significant improvements also seen across the city (8%) & region.

The #ICE #budget will be bigger than FBI, Bureau of Prisons, DEA & others COMBINED. $150 BILLION over 4 years. Bigger than most countries’ militaries. Let that sink in.

The police state just got its backing with money that could have been used to build healthy and safe communities for everyone.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

In one fell swoop, they destroyed access to health care, shut down hospitals, upended clean energy, massively expanded their secret police force & took food away from kids.

All to cut taxes for the rich & corporations.

It’s one of the biggest betrayals of Americans in the history of our country.

These deaths could have been prevented with a strong OSHA heat standard. Will the Trump administration continue to let workers die?

America was built BY WORKERS who paid with their health and lives.

By enslaved people stripped of all human rights, women in wartime factories, miners in company towns, and immigrants seeking better lives.

Not by billionaires. Not by kings.

We aren't going back.
