everyone call theory ogre stupid and it true!!! theory ogre reads fiction but only identifies tangential esoterica like biopower & homonationalism, and con't comprehend elements like story or theme that make reading enjoyable for all!! at this rate ogre will never read fiction as a strict passtime.

I grieved for the Internet, I grieved for Social Media, now I grieve for universities, and their communities. This is all part of a mass-dismantling of social connection (and university leaders have been blithe to their part).

What does that leave? We all become selfish? Not why I work at a uni…
'In some respects, what we are seeing resembles a form of collective grief. Not only grief for colleagues who have left, but grief for ways of working, professional identities and communities that once gave meaning to academic life. This creates an important challenge for university leaders.'

New article published in the latest issue of @journal.transformativeworks.org! Had a blast working with the editors on this one. It's about @vangelus.bsky.social and tactility of action figures.

The thing about AI is that they want us to believe that this sort of just passable BS is adequate and suffices when it sucks and does not. In pretty much every case.

Possibly unpopular opinion?

I think artists should get to sign the art they make for book covers. It should be right there, on the front, because it’s never been more important to showcase the humanness of art. And also there are many times when I see a beautiful cover and wonder, “Who made this?”

AI without capitalism hasn't ever existed... unless one really does incredible legwork to redefine it. This makes the question basically impossible to answer as there is no understanding of one without the other at this moment in time that's easily accessible.
