Frankly it’s mostly patience.
It’s a ridiculously long game with a lot of fiddly rules and interactions.
Don’t be afraid to look up stuff and use the occasional save-scumm.
It’s not a game for everyone, but (in my opinion) totally worth the time.

I beat Baldur's Gate 3!
In total: 252 hours and 3 attempts over the past 3 years.
85 hours in this last one alone! (a pure Wizard playthrough)
Now, I always liked this game but now seeing most of it... it's somehow so much better than I thought it would be.
The hype is real and deserved.

I beat Baldur's Gate 3!
In total: 252 hours and 3 attempts over the past 3 years.

I get there are lots of reasons for pessimism, but a lot of desperately poor nations are developing, global child mortality has tanked since I was a kid, malaria deaths are way down, extreme poverty is *way* down, access to water and power are widespread, solar power is booming...

I worry this sort of... generalized political and economic pessimism just makes everything feel pointless, but if you zoom out, things are getting better along almost every axis, and the biggest problems we face are all solvable.

Reading Higginbotham's very comprehensive book "Midnight in Chernobyl" and it's good but hard. Particularly poignant is a scene where an American doctor arrives, and the Soviets are distressed that he's not bringing any super-tech that will save all the people with radiation sickness.
