And reappointed O'Grady in 2023!
The Tories have attacked appointment of TUC chief Paul Nowak as a director of Bank of England, saying:

"The last thing our country needs is a trade union leader helping to run the BofE."

And yet it was a Tory government that in 2019 appointed the then TUC chief Frances O'Grady to the same role

It's not the worst thing he's done but calling Baba O'Riley Teenage Wasteland is somehow perfect for Trump. And don't forget Pavarotti's signature tune Dorma
Very possibly the most incoherent playlist in music history. Utterly berserk.

Both Zack Polanski & Kemi Badenoch did gracious, sympathetic posts on X✅

35 mins ago Farage posted “We will fight.. Labour to retrospectively change the law on donations” No word of condolence❌

Current reporting across the piece on these donations is making my head spin. Are journos not reading anything anymore? Reporting that the Government is suddenly looking at changing the laws it's passing to stop these donations. It's not! It's been in the Bill since Rycroft earlier in the year...

It's "better food" for our kids apparently
The Telegraph is terrified kids are going to become lentil munchers. Dal is famously known to be a very expensive dish. How will schools cope with the burden?

Narrator: Liz Truss lost her South West Norfolk parliamentary seat to Labour on 5 July 2024.

Her gigantic previous majority of 26,195 votes was completely wiped out.

So please god let her run again. I could do with a laugh.

I wonder if there is a single person still at the Telegraph who feels even a smidgeon of shame, that in just over a decade it has gone from newspaper-of-record to fluffers-for-rent. It is revolting.

Farage, apparently, "lands" a record crypto bung.

Even if they massively up the spend on insight - polling, qual, digital analytics - you still have to have the political ability to use that insight and the product has to be good. You could spend billions on the marketing budget for a shit sandwich. But it would remain a shit sandwich.
I guess the one straw to hold on to is that Reform still have to act competently and professionally, and they still have to arrest their/Farage's declining fortunes.

Money can't buy everything.
Harborne has given Reform £36 million to match Delo's £36 million. The Telegraph describes it as a "show of force" from Reform's donors.

The two men's £72 million is greater than all of the spending by all political parties on the 2024 GE

A serious democratic society simply cannot allow this.

That's £72 million from just two men. (Both, until lately, based overseas).

The average UK earner (full-time) would have to work for over 1,800 years to raise that much.

It's a nuclear strike on any pretence at the equality of political power

Fairly obviously Delo is giving this big a donation now as a precaution against an amendment being successful. Normally a donor would drip feed cash over years to keep some control.
I would note, for those looking to blame Burnham for not passing legislation to block this donation, that the Representation of the People Bill has not yet passed.

Even if he'd accepted the amendments limiting donations this would have pre-empted the Bill coming into force

Thing is, I am not entirely sure he "gatecrashed" anything or "confronted" anyone. I think there is a perfectly good possibility - I put it no higher - this was arranged with Yusuf and as "spontaneous" as the disorder. If my instinct is right, it's the starting pistol for the race to replace Farage.
