#OTD in 1942, Percy Hobart. He formed 7 and 11 Armoured Division, was dismissed because of his "unconventional" ideas but was re-enlisted by Churchill. He introduced special tanks, such as Crocodile, AVRE, ARK, Crab and Duplex Drive within his 79 Armoured Division. #WW2 #HISTORY

Still thinking about that time that Edward Pellew was sent to "observe" the French fleet, caught it sneaking out of Brest in the dark, careered merrily through the middle of them making random signals, wrecked a battleship in the chaos, and then, fleet duly "observed", fucked off back to England.

People get stuck on the potential for LOAC violation - ah, I caught you, that’s a war crime - without engaging with why it’s a matter of law. Yes, humanity and morality, but also and importantly: stopping a spiral of horrific reciprocity.
