2 Sep is a bad day for the UK MPA community as we remember our friends and colleagues who perished on this day in 1995 and 2006 when XV239 and XV230 crashed in Toronto and Afghanistan respectively.

Till we meet again in the Scruffs’ Bar. 😢

Do you know why the Germans don’t slap a swastika over all their ‘heritage’ items? Because they’re fucking ashamed of it, that’s why. Any state with any decency would be mortified by its regretful association with this morally disgusting symbol of the past.

A driver was trapped and seriously injured on the A14 — and 11 people slowed down to FILM it. Disgraceful. No empathy. No decency. Just content. We tracked every one of them down. All prosecuted. Good. 👏 #RoadSafety

Still thinking about that time that Edward Pellew was sent to "observe" the French fleet, caught it sneaking out of Brest in the dark, careered merrily through the middle of them making random signals, wrecked a battleship in the chaos, and then, fleet duly "observed", fucked off back to England.

People get stuck on the potential for LOAC violation - ah, I caught you, that’s a war crime - without engaging with why it’s a matter of law. Yes, humanity and morality, but also and importantly: stopping a spiral of horrific reciprocity.
Made a similar point about LOAC, reciprocity, and attacks on regional energy infrastructure in an interview today.

Understanding why these LOAC rules exist and impressing that upon clients—up to and including POTUS—ought to be a critical skill for executive branch lawyers.
