Quentin came into my video store once with Richard Linklater (no bullshit) and I walked the wall with them for 20 minutes. Quentin was quite tickled that not only did we have all of these releases, but that we'd made a section for them. Those films were a real crash course for 90s film nerds.

The financial problem with Sora was despite the massive interest, PR campaign, and downloads, only 1% of the userbase stuck around for more than a few days. A small, niche, devoted userbase does not a Trillion dollar company make. It was a toy, and not a very good one. Long live human creativity!

People who don't like remakes or sequels likely don't know that many of their favorite films are remakes and many of their favorite filmmakers made sequels. I'm so weary of this cocksure, kneejerk discourse from my freshmen but they at least have the defense of being 18.

I’m actually rather distressed by how people, some of them my colleagues, have seized on one or two sentences in this and try to make it seem as if Barry Jenkins made this movie under duress or doesn’t like it or something
This is a really great piece and it's ever so annoying to see one sentence plucked out of context and dragged. Begging people to read, especially when it's as good as Matt's writing!

Small. Daily. Goals. 1 page. That’s it. Give yourself one page a day. That’s only ~300 words. Less than ten skeets. You’ll be surprised how many times you’ll write more than that and how quickly the manuscript will emerge and race towards The End.
That is brilliant advice. Now, any wisdom on terminal procrastination would be incredibly appreciated.
