🧵You can't talk about Natalie Harp w/o talking about how strange she is. This isn't making fun of physique or bearing. It's about obsessive/creepy behavior. And it matters on policy.

As a former Republican media consultant, I can tell you that this attack is astonishingly effective w/the public...
A photo of Donald Trump sitting at a desk with national flags on it, seemingly at a meeting in an office. His omnipresent aide, Natalie Harp, is sitting behind him, staring at him with an unnatural smile, her eyes shrouded with pupils not visible.

Singaporean artist Leia Ham reimagined LotR as Tale of the Middle Kingdom, since Chinese name for China (Zhōngguó) means "The Middle Kingdom." Her concept art includes the Fellowship, armors, buildings like Bag End, props like Aragorn's banner and Fellowship brooches, and more. #TolkienTrewsday
An illustration of the Fellowship, reimagined with Chinese-style period outfits. An illustration of armors of Gondor, Rohan, and Rivendell Elves, reimagined using different periods of Chinese armors as concepts. On the top right are three side profiles of Rohan man, Gondorian, and Elf with different Chinese hairstyles. On the bottom right is Aragorn's banner redrawn with Chinese influence. A concept art of Bag End reimagined as Chinese court houses, with tall stone gates, round wooden doors, curved roofs, and open courtyard, nestled in a hill. A concept art of Rivendell in the style of Chinese painting. Next to it are several props drawn in Chinese style such as Fellowship brooch based on gingko leaves, lembas in the shape of mooncake, Elfstone as round jade, Galadriel's phial in a green jade bottle, and shards of Narsil.

Can’t help but notice all the people who said Obama would desecrate the White House with Escalades and rap music on the South Lawn are absolutely loving this UFC fight on the South Lawn.

Probably just a coincidence.

It's been a brutal two weeks in Chicagoland with ICE pointing guns and tasers, multiple car crashes, violent arrests and a significant uptick in detainments overall. Feds continue to stalk courthouses across multiple counties. Today, agents were also seen at the rideshare lots at O'Hare.

It remains very weird to me that in a world of actually useful technology -- photovoltaic power generation, mRNA vaccines, maglev trains, smart phones, etc -- the tech sector has gone so all-in on bullshit generators and plagiarism machines.

It’s a eggnog recipe
nina b O 2 days ago ***&& I substituted the eggs for duck eggs and milk with geese fat and it came out terrible!! Please write in the recipe when reasonable substitutions cannot be made. +-2- → Reply Admin Stacy Popham © 5 hours ago | @ Reply to nina b Let me break this down for you.Duck eggs instead of chicken eggs? That's actually fine. Duck eggs work in eggnog. That's not your problem. Goose fat instead of milk? Goose fat is a solid cooking fat for roasting potatoes. Milk is a liquid dairy product. They are not interchangeable You essentially made hot melted goose fat with duck eggs. Of course it was terrible. Bottom line: If you fundamentally change the structure of a recipe by using completely different ingredients with entirely different properties, you're not making eggnog. You're conducting a failed science experiment. Make it again with actual dairy and report back.

NEW: Today the Siebel Institute—the US' oldest/most prestigious brewing school & a cornerstone of the industry globally—announced its relocation from Chicago to Montreal, citing "[r]ecent regulatory changes in the US [that] have made it much more challenging for many of our international students."

The new location address will be 3035 rue Sainte-Catherine E, Montréal (Québec), near Molson’s original brewery site (1786), the oldest brewery in North America. Siebel will be co-located with the new Lallemand Baking Academy and Application Technology Training Facility. This move marks a significant milestone in Siebel’s evolution, aligning with the changing dynamics of the global brewing industry and the need for the business to remain competitive and sustainable far into the future. The decision follows a comprehensive review of operational costs, industry trends, increased student visa challenges to enter the United States and is fully supported by Siebel’s longstanding partners and stakeholders. “Lallemand has proudly owned the Siebel Institute since 2000 and has consistently supported its autonomy as the center for world-class brewing education," said Antoine Chagnon, CEO of Lallemand Inc. "we are excited about the opportunities this relocation brings for the future of brewing education." Throughout its history, Siebel Institute has maintained a reputation for excellence in brewing science and education. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lallemand’s financial support was instrumental in ensuring the school’s survival and continued service to the global brewing community. The relocation is also strongly endorsed by Siebel’s strategic partner in Munich, Germany, which makes up the World Brewing Academy (WBA). "We fully support this move and look forward to many more years of successful collaboration," said Dr. Werner Gloßner, Managing Director of Doemens Academy. The new facility in Montreal offers a unique opportunity to integrate brewing and baking education under one roof—two disciplines that have shared a rich history for millennia (as evidenced from the ancient Egyptian frescoes and scriptures). Montreal itself provides a vibrant, safe, and culturally rich environment for students, with world-class amenities and a thriving food and beverage scene. Siebel Institute will continue to offer its renowned online and campus classes and programs from its new home in Montreal, remaining committed to delivering the same high standards of education and training that have defined its legacy. "Maintaining the quality of education while keeping Siebel Institute and World Brewing Academy offerings affordable was key for us,” said John Hannafan, General Manager and Director of Education, Siebel Institute. “Recent regulatory changes in the U.S. have made it much more challenging for many of our international students, who have become the majority of our student body, to attend classes in person. This relocation of North America classroom operations to Montreal allows us to pivot without sacrificing the student experience." Just got an alert that ICE is showing up today in Park Slope. I have a feeling that their presence is going to grow quickly in retaliation for Mamdani’s win.

Chicagoans have learned a lot. I have to think ppl have put together good resources to post about how to effectively resist them?

Did not expect one of the best paragraphs I’d read about baseball would come from an Irish newspaper

www.irishexaminer.com/sport-column...
And in that pause between pitch and contact - longer than logic, shorter than hope - we remembered why baseball existed long before we judged a sport's value by viral moments and betting apps. It is the romance of failure. The mortal beauty of trying and missing seven times out of 10 and still being considered great. It is the only sport where patience is a weapon, and panic the surest death. You cannot simply run out the clock in baseball; you must face it, pitch by terrifying pitch, until it finally releases you.

Zohran picked 「卓蘭」("excellent orchid") for his first name and「夸梅」("brilliant plum") for his middle name.

The orchid and the plum are among "The Four Noble Ones" in traditional Chinese art, the former symbolizing an indifference to fame and fortune, the latter an indomitable, incorruptible spirit.

Per @chicagotribune.com, the pajama-pants-guy is a former county prosecutor.

And he had some things to say. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/25/c...
A different video captured after agents unleashed tear gas showed plumes of smoke billowing down the street as the crowd's piercing shouts and whistles reached a fever pitch. Onlookers scurried to the sidewalk to get away from the chemicals, with one neighbor, Brian Kolp, seen walking away barefoot and in Chicago Blackhawks pajamas. Kolp, 41, said he was drinking coffee on his couch and watching the news as he always does on Saturday morning when he saw what's become an all-too-familiar scene unfold outside his window. Two U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents were tackling a man to the ground on his front yard. Meanwhile, Kolp's TV continued to blare a news segment discussing the ongoing temporary restraining order restricting federal immigration agents' use of tear gas. Kolp, a former prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's office, sprang into action as he sometimes wondered he would have to do throughout the Trump administration's "Operation Midway Blitz" these last two months. He didn't even have time to put on his shoes or change out of his pajamas, he said, drawing jeers from one of the agents as he screamed "Nazis!" and "Gestapo!" at the agents. "Quite honestly, when all this started happening, I thought to myself that if the opportunity ever came my way to have to get involved in one of these situations, I was certainly going to do what I could to make sure that they weren't openly and flagrantly violating the law or the Constitution," Kolp said. "And yet, they just went ahead and did it anyway."

We are everything.

No matter what happens in the coming weeks, we are Chicago. We rose from the ashes. We never quit.&10;&10;We are the lake in the morning, the sun rising over the water, its reflection drawing a line straight to our shores.&10;&10;We are the Haymarket Martyrs, the Pullman strikers, always demanding better than what we've got.&10;&10;We are the words of Sandburg and Algren and Brooks and Wright.&10;&10;We are the 90s Bulls, making the impossible possible.&10;&10;We are the dipped Italian Beef. Messy, sure, but incredible.&10;&10;We are the humidity in the summer, the frostbitten cheeks in the winter.&10;&10;We are smoke-kissed rib tips.&10;&10;We are elotes on the street. We are pierogis in a pot.&10;&10;We are Curtis singing Hush now child.

RIP Kaleb Horton
kalebhorton.ghost.io/2025-so-far/
I also have advice. Everybody loves reading advice on the computer, so I'll share it: the best thing you can do right now is log off as hard as you can. Go outside, talk to people in real life where it's actually kind of rude to talk about the news, try to actually see the friends you usually just text message. Go for a long drive and turn the phone off while you do it. Get back into your hobbies or pick one and learn it for a while. Watch one of those studio movies that reviews called "wildly miscalculated" and you haven't seen since high school. Play an album you like but find embarrassing. Go to free community events even if they sound stupid. If you take the freeway, try the surface streets. Go to a bad diner and just order some bad coffee because even bad coffee is good coffee. You can't help anybody when you're exhausted and keep posting one million college-educated rewordings of "I would love to be dead right now" on the computer. Walk away from the thing and try out some of those normal things you hear about and if you get bored that's wonderful because we're not supposed to get bored anymore. It turns out boredom is the Cadillac of feelings.
