Instead of debating “should we do what Canada is doing” (which is, so far, unclear), the debate could be: “how has the world changed that the EU and Canada are considering this, and how do we want to deal with this situation?“

A key question is whether or not the CUSMA automotive supply chain is already in a long slow death, because of Trumps 51st state ambitions. Canada is behaving is though is thinks it might be.
