A lab worker in Russia’s Irkutsk region died after a reported accident involving plague samples, while authorities denied she died of plague, citing pneumonia of unknown cause.
Of course when Russia said Ukraine had bioweapons labs what they really meant was that they did.
There's a lot we don't know about the current situation. Russia should be bringing in experts from the WHO to clarify and advise. Will they?

Lab-acquired infections happen. Only a small percent ever become public information, in part because they never need to. The plague thing is interesting and unfortunate, and also the pandemic risk of wild type Yersinia pestis in 2026 is indistinguishable from zero. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...
