If I didn't know better I'd think Trump was trying to make people like AI more by going all in on SI. www.axios.com/2026/10/08/t...
Trump: Anyone saying "AI" is "THE ENEMY!" The White House uses it
Trump's own White House still uses "AI" as a term.

This summer, I finished what I thought was a kinda fun chapter for an edited volume on science fiction and the law around possible future independent superintelligence. I guess I should have anticipated that the term was going to be co-opted in very dumb ways by the worst people imaginable.

The "SI" thing is was intended to provoke this exact sort of sniveling response from the courtiers, to train the oligarchs to humiliate themselves for Trump so they'll do it again later when it really matters.
BAIER: The president says 'SI.' Are you into SI or AI?

BEZOS: I do like SI, because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.

Like…really? Try and comprehend the amount of busywork nationwide that this, uh, whatever the F you want to call it, just introduced. In every sector. That last proposal you wrote where you mentioned AI 149 times? Nope. That website you just built talking about your company’s new AI tools? Nope. 🤬

Of course the thing is that "superintelligence" already means something

And "can our artificial intelligence technologies achieve superintelligence?" is like, a question to be answered

We can’t let Big Tech CEOs regulate themselves, we need AI guardrails to protect our jobs, rights and freedoms.
