I saw #Wicked this weekend with my son & one of my daughters. Right after the “take it away!” scene when Elphaba is born & immediately taken away, my son turned & whispered: “I’m really sorry, Mom, I didn’t know about this part” & my daughter squeezed my hand. They get it. Wow. #adoptionistrauma 🥚

Adoption requires a few things that make the 'cure' just as bad (if not worse) than the 'sickness'. There is no good reason to: • permanently sever a child from ALL kin (not just mom & dad), including ancestral history. • enter a child into a contract they can't consent to and can never revoke, rescind, or annul. • falsify a child's authentic natal identity and force them to use a fake birth certificate as legal ID. • brainwash a child into believing that strangers are mommy & daddy. • put a child in a position of expected gratitude by society. • raise a child apart from their inherent culture and community. • offer zero protection for the child to even know they're adopted, which deprives them of their medical history and can lead to accidental incest. Motherloss, genetic bewilderment, and identity falsification are profound traumas that plenary adoption creates.

If a mother tragically dies in child birth everyone knows how much that baby will miss its mother and how much trauma there will be for that child. But babies are taken from their mothers and handed to strangers in adoption without a second thought and told love is all they need.

Saw my adoption aware therapist this am. Been with her for 2 3/4 years and, well, I feel like it’s really paying off. Expensive, both $ and emotionally, but damn! Feels good to see real progress. #adoptionistrauma

Would you rather have been aborted? DNA doesn't mean as much as love. I'm not adopted, but… Just be happy with the family you've got. Birth mothers are a gift. Adoptive parents are a gift. My neighbor adopted seven kids and they're all fine. Why would you ever want to meet someone who gave you up? People who aren't adopted feel that way too. Stupid people give birth every day and they don't have to pass a test first. Weren't your parents enough for you? You're so lucky! Are you too ungrateful for a FREE SPACE? You can't change the past. You'd prefer to be raised by a crack whore? You'd rather have wasted away in an orphanage your whole life? Don't you want to meet your REAL family? It sounds like you just had a bad experience. I don't see how wanting kids to live in the best country is colonialist. That's just your opinion. Savior narrative. So you'd rather orphans starve to death in the streets? My cousin's best friend is adopted and doesn't say things like that. Adoptees are a gift. I'm sorry you're so angry.
