This big B-B+B-B freight motor was built by the Spokane, Portland & Seattle shops for subisidary Oregon Electric (#51) in August, 1941. It was sold to the North Shore in December, 1947. Now painted green or blue and red for the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad, it is seen pulling a short freight train through the suburbs on a snowy winter day.

A 1924 map of interurban (light rail, but for both freight and passengers) service around Kansas City. There's 8 lines and easily well over 100 stations stretching from St. Joseph, MO to Olathe, KS, and Fort Leavenworth, KS to the start of the Oregon Trail in Independence, MO, and from Excelsior Springs, MO to Lawrence, KS.

A doodle of a North Shore Line GE 66-Ton freight motor. These units were unique as they were dual-mode electric, and used batteries if they ever needed to switch or travel off wire for a few miles. I'm pretty happy with how this art turned out. #Trains #Interurban #Art
