Bill Mensch's 65C02 fixed the indirect jump bug, added new addressing modes, and used CMOS so it drew almost no power when halted. The WDC 65C02 is still in production today. Fifty years and counting. Try getting support for a five-year-old JavaScript framework.

Thankfully fixed in the 65C02.

I should do something with these 6502s at some point 🤔

Idle curiosity, and zero practical use,but it's running a Mistubishi M50747 which is a 65C02 derivative, so I've dumped the ROM and disassembled the code.

Bill Mensch designed the 65C02 at Western Design Center in 1983. He fixed the indirect jump bug, added new addressing modes, and made all the undefined opcodes into well-behaved NOPs instead of chaos generators. He also cut the power consumption dramatically. The 65C02 is still in production today.

Citadel 2 disassembly WIP. I think this 65c02 instruction only gets executed when the game is completed. It freezes the CPU when executed on a 6502! Maybe the author tested it on his BBC Master only? And nobody ever completed the game on a BBC Micro to discover this?

Today's CPU is the 65C816 from 1985. Essentially an enhancement of the 65C02, it allows switching between 8bit & 16bit registers and address space was increased to 24bit, allowing for 16Mb of RAM. It's most commonly found in the Apple IIGS, Acorn Communicator and a modified version in the SNES.

She’s so pretty. 65C02, serial port for control and program loading, 6 channel stereo sound and other features that may change later.

The boot chime is the same chord as the Mac startup.

I love it.

Bill Mensch designed the 6502's I/O subsystem and later founded WDC, which still manufactures 65C02 and 65C816 chips today. The 6502 is not a museum piece. It's a product you can still order.

2025's hottest accessory: a 65C02

It's alive! Keypad/Display #PCB module for my #kim-1 replica is working! Mostly based on the original 1970s #schematic, using modern parts. I wrote a PCB test fixture using Arduino and #rp2040 #raspberrypipico module from #adafruit. My first time using a rp2040 was mostly painless. #65C02

Digging deeper and deeper into Citadel 2 (BBC Micro). From self-modifying code to leftover BBC BASIC inline assembly. And from custom line drawing code to 65C02 opcodes, while the BBC Micro has a 6502! I also made a Large Unified Binary™️ to avoid multiple confusing code/data relocations

I have that as well. the 65C02 .. using it with Ben Eater's "Build a 6502 computer" videos.

App update: Added 8088 and 65c02 opcodes and lowered minimum iOS requirement to 18.

Wondering if this app is actually useful? What would make it useful-er?

Or is it more of a comfort thing to have The Sacred Knowledge close to hand?

Try it and let me know!
