ARK Invest and Securitize announced on September 24 that they've tokenized the ARK Venture Fund, known by its ticker ARKVX. It puts a fund manager's flagship venture vehicle directly on public blockchain rails for the first time. Eligible investors can now buy in with as little as $500, funded in USDC, after completing identity verification and getting their wallet whitelisted, according to Securitize's announcement. The fund's traditional share class already uses that same $500 minimum. What's new is the delivery mechanism: instead of a brokerage statement, investors get a token issued under Securitize's DS Protocol on Ethereum. ARKVX has been Cathie Wood's way of letting ordinary investors buy into companies that normally only venture capitalists get to touch. It launched in 2022 as a closed-end interval fund.
