"chatgpt is an acessibility aid for ADHD" is like saying you give alcoholics a shot before bed to keep them stable

But if that sounds like a lot right now, start with As Able.

I promise you can start adding it to your sentences right now and it will make a huge difference to a lot of people (disabled ppl yes, but also poor ppl, caregivers, and others with limited resources of various kinds).

As. Able.

It's not just DEI (as bad as that is) but it's now DEIA, and includes "acessibility" so disabled people, including disabled vets, and the programs that are mandated by law to support them are being targetted.

IMO the big thing that makes modern Minecraft so enjoyable is the enourmous amount of acessibility options the game has, its kinda amusing how people can say older versions are better when they only have like, 10 options instead of 200

Not enough games have acessibility features that meaningfully help the player.

Celeste is an example of one that does accessibility really well, unlike most.
What’s your gaming hot take?

I’ll go first:

I think Bethesda hasn’t been good for the gaming industry because they’ve led to this push towards open world non linear experiences as well as normalizing shipping out games that are full of bugs.

Not everything needs to be open world!

Ubisoft open-sourced their Colorblind Tool, Chroma. This is good news for anyone wanting to integrate more accessibility into their games

You can tell the app to remind you.

Go to Settings then Acessibility, and toggle "Require alt text before posting" on.

I had this same thought when talking about conventions. Why should acessibility be treated like an afterthought when accessibility literally benefits EVERYONE.

Building a fresh UI for my game. The old one was outdated - I focus now on acessibility and console controls rather than keyboard + mouse.

It comes it its own challenges but it is totally worth the hassle.

I can respect that from a resources standpoint (specially for indies), but "This game shouldn't have acessibility options according to developer intent" is just not good.

"It's their vision" just doesn't outweight acessibility so that people who the game is for can play it.

Thank you for doing these things and for stopping to explain your choices when asked! Acessibility is a group project we are all collectively getting better at through having these conversations!

Cop-like enforcement of norms is always some bullshit, even if we agree with the norms. And there is a myth of acessibility, as if there were a Platonic Accessible Design to work towards rather than irreconcilable tensions even within accomodating different disabilities.

remedy adding one hit kills and immortality as acessibility options to control resonance is so fantastic

sometimes i dont like fighting guys and im so happy to be able to turn them off without mods!!!!!!!!!!!

The early 90s was an explosion in tech & acessibility, games became fast-paced and acessible as 16-bit consoles arrived, IBM PCs got better and games like Doom, Street Fighter, Myst, Sonic, etc arrived.

Up to that point, most CRPGs were very complex, turn-based and slow. A poor fit for this new era

Just read a game journo complainin about the new Onimusha lacking ''acessibility features'' in the game.

Sometimes, I think I am annoying about alt-text. Then I realize, no the fuck I'm not. inclusion and acessibility for everyone!
April 7, 2025 at 7:49 PM
pt-br: configurações > acessibilidade > exigir texto alternativo antes de postar

eng: settings > acessibility > require alt text before posting

I know for a fact that american fans would riot if Itoi says that Mother 3 won't ever come out in English because he doesn't speak English. like, it's ridiculous, I can't see why anyone would think that having this stance on the acessibility of their own work is anything but out of touch

Oh, I cried too, Arevya ❤️

Gaming IS for everyone

"Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown" is launching as a mobile game today!

These were my words after playing the game last year: "Today I felt like a gamer, just that... not a disabled gamer, not a chronically ill gamer, not a gamer with a brain injury.... I was just a gamer ♥️

Acessibility is a main point - yes, cutting ege stuff is expensive. But now super cheap CPUs with onboard graphics can play 99.9% of games & emulators

Mobile brought games to millions of people who never had access. And now we actually get devs from all over the world, not just a few rich countries

Some acessibility to those 'hallowed' halls of whiteness and even a whiff of proximity is intoxicating to some folks.

I'll leave it at that becsuse the north remembers " black sky. . .i dont know her."
August 24, 2026 at 11:40 AM
it's very odd trying to explain acessibility to people because people automatically assume it only means ramps, hand-rails, etc.. when in reality there are many subtle unacessible things in a day to day life, like uneven sidewalks, tight-screwed bottles, low seats, etc
