hmm. but the culture page of the paper is explicitly about, you know, that newspaper's culture. it's not the antropology page.

Some people need their head beaten with the hardcover of "Orientalism".
And honestly, such essentializing crap is still kinda common among people who study antropology focused on some country or region.

I took Medical Anthropology the first semester I went back to school and it had a massive impact on how I thought about bodies, and storytelling. I switched to Antropology/Sociology the next semester.

Long before numbers were written down or equations were formalized, human beings were already thinking mathematically; not on tablets or scrolls, but in clay.

Given this observation, two pieces of good news. First, the World Inequality Conference which starts in Paris tomorrow has a very diverse line up of plenary speakers. Including several degrwoth and postgrowth scholars, who often have other backgrounds (Hickel: antropology, Steinberger: physics).

lol i was more making reference to how in antropology you get what look like rock tools but are actually naturally ocurring pebbles

Something I studied long ago, but antropology was registering the shift in traditional thai (specially rural, enpoverished areaa) society where the shot-calling role was no longer the older men, but the younger trans women that were the ones earning the bread, sadly mostly via prostitution in cities

Oh!
This does (by reading the introduction) reminds me of Marimba Ani's Yurugu, afro-centric antropology of European thought and culture
