Renowned singer-songwriter Remi Wolf has announced her upcoming third studio album, titled 'Mud', set for release on October 9 via Island Records. The project marks a significant evolution in her artistic journey, with Wolf describing the process as a catalyst for entering 'a new phase of life'. The album includes the recent single 'Twiggy', released last month following its debut during Hayley Williams' Newport Folk Festival set, and another new track 'Bottle', scheduled for release on August 20. Wolf elaborates on the album's impact, stating it has provided a 'cleansing' experience, leaving her feeling 'clean and clear'. The creative process involved collaborations with producers Jared Solomon, Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin, and Gigi Grombacher, whom she refers to as a 'family band'. The recording took place in Nashville, Big Bear, California, New York's Electric Lady Studios, and Joshua Tree. 'Mud' follows her 2021 debut album 'Juno' and 2024's 'Big Ideas', which received critical acclaim for its honest lyricism and vibrant soundscapes. Wolf reflects on the period of touring that inspired the new work, emphasizing a reevaluation of her artistic expression and musical approach.

In a recent interview with Guitar World, Angine De Poitrine’s Khn emphasizes the critical role of music theory in artistic expression, challenging the misconception that technical knowledge stifles creativity. The anonymous Quebec duo, known for their intricate microtonal rock performances and distinctive visual style, discusses how terminology is essential to understanding musical language. Khn argues that while scales and intervals are constantly considered during performances, they do not dictate creative choices. Instead, he views terminology as a vital tool for avoiding chaos in artistic communication. The article highlights Angine De Poitrine’s rise as a breakthrough act in 2026, including their viral KEXP session, critically acclaimed album 'Vol. II', and collaborations with high-profile admirers like Dave Grohl. Their recent performances at events such as The Great Escape and Montreal Jazz Festival underscore their growing influence in the music scene.
