Researcher Ziyad Al-Aly called on the NIH to make it easier for researchers outside the RECOVER program to access the vast data that it's collected (in observational cohorts, biorepository, etc). Other LC researchers have also told me accessing these data have been a challenge.

I need you guys to understand how bad it is. Some of the labs I was rotating in for my PhD have basically tried to graduate all their students and have explicitly stopped taking on new PhDs. One of the labs I’m considering is going to lose a 20 year old biorepository bc of the grants running out.

I work at our biorepository and I'm sometimes thrown into an existential crisis by our freezers. We have some of these, which are the size of entire rooms and can hold many millions of samples. They're bananas even to the modern mind!
