Laredo, TX - Four individuals identified as current or former U.S. Border Patrol agents have been arrested in separate incidents across Laredo between October 28 and November 1, 2026, facing charges ranging from driving while intoxicated and furnishing alcohol to minors to felony threats and murder. The series of arrests has drawn attention to several criminal investigations involving individuals associated with the federal law enforcement agency. Although the incidents occurred within days of one another, authorities have not indicated that any of the cases are connected. FIRST ARREST: BORDER PATROL AGENT ACCUSED OF MURDERING HIS WIFE On October 28, Border Patrol agent Abel Garza, 30, was charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife, 28-year-old Mayra Alejandra Landeros, in south Laredo. The murder case represents the most serious charge among the four incidents and remains a separate criminal investigation. SECOND ARREST: OFF-DUTY BORDER PATROL AGENT ACCUSED OF THREATENING POLICE AND PARAMEDICS Later on October 28, at approximately 9:42 p.m., Laredo police responded to the 100 block of Flathead Lake after receiving reports of a man allegedly threatening emergency medical personnel. Officers identified Bryan Douglas Ramsey, 51, who allegedly threatened to hurt a police officer and mentioned possessing weapons. Paramedics also told investigators that Ramsey had threatened to assault them. Ramsey was arrested and charged with obstruction or retaliation, a third-degree felony, and terroristic threat against a peace officer, a state jail felony. Authorities seized a pellet rifle and a bow and arrow. Ramsey had previously been identified as a Border Patrol agent in reporting surrounding a September 2024 DWI arrest. THIRD ARREST: OFF-DUTY AGENT ACCUSED OF PROVIDING ALCOHOL TO MINORS AT HALLOWEEN PARTY On October 31, at approximately 9:44 p.m., Laredo police responded to a large Halloween party in the 500 block of Olimpia Bay Road following complaints of loud music and allegations ot underage drinking. Officers dispersed the gathering and observed numerous empty and unopened alcohol containers throughout the property. The homeowner, identified as Irma Jimenez, 47, was an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent. Following an investigation, Jimenez was arrested and charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, a Class A misdemeanor. FOURTH ARREST: OFF-DUTY AGENT CHARGED WITH DWI AFTER THREE-VEHICLE CRASH Just hours later, at approximately 1 a.m. on November 1, Laredo police responded to a three-vehicle collision at Jaime Zapata Memorial Highway and Boomtown Street. During the investigation, officers determined that one of the drivers was impaired. The driver, identified as Johann Alexander Villarreal, 36, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. Authorities subsequently confirmed that Villarreal was an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent. Information regarding possible injuries from the collision was not provided. FOUR SEPARATE CASES, FOUR ARRESTS WITHIN FIVE DAYS The charges include murder, obstruction or retaliation, terroristic threat against a peace officer, furnishing alcohol to minors, and driving while intoxicated.
