I think this is because for many Tories acknowledging these improvements would mean abandoning their deeply held belief that their kids should go to grammar school + poor kids should be bricklayers.
It’s remarkable that the Tories did actually have a major policy success in education, and bluntly devolved countries that didn’t do the same are a natural experiment showing it isn’t coincidental, and they couldn’t capitalise on it, at all? I don’t think the Tories mentioned it once last GE?

I really love marching in the Labor Day parade--something I didn't see until I moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's all unions. Our faculty union marched with bricklayers, electricians, road workers, nurses...

My ill-informed opinion on Piker is that he chose provocateur as his career path as is constitutional right, and by all indications, he's been successful at it. But having made this decision, he has to learn to live with provoked people the same way swineherds live with swine and bricklayers bricks.
