Yep, Busconnects has been abandoned halfway through.
There's a fella there saying one of the reasons lads in tractors are blocking the quays is concern over the lack of delivery of BusConnects.
Looking at the threads about the protests on r/ireland, very funny how many people are shocked to discover that those protesting are (a) asset/cash rich and (b) politically right wing.

@humantransit.bsky.social Dublin's public transport is performing poorly. The problem with #BusConnects in the capital, and in regional cities such as Galway, is not so much with the design as with delivery. Much is promised, but what is provided often falls far short.

The rollout of new bus services has totally collapsed with this new government - and the NTA confirmed this today at the Oireachtas Transport Committee.
This will have a knock-on impact for all phases of BusConnects and the Connecting Ireland rural bus programme.

It's taken 7 years, but BusConnects is finally starting construction. It's not perfect, but dedicated lanes will make buses faster and cycling safer.
