Electoral College has to go. 18th century relic.
Maybe the biggest sin of the electoral college, (aside from it being archaic and biased), is that it stokes feelings of inter-state animosity. Red State vs. Blue State. Painting entire populaces and regions with a broad brush, intensifying prejudices, and turning us all against one another.

Need 48 more Electoral College votes for the National Vote Interstate Compact to come into effect.

Dems/coalitions on track to win trifectas in seven states that haven't yet passed the NPVIC: AZ AK MI NV PA WI. That's 64 Electoral College votes.
If enough states elect Democratic trifectas tonight, we could use the powers granted by the Constitution to change how US presidents are elected.

The big gaps between how white college educated voters (especially women) vote, versus white people without college education, could explain a lot about the GOP's current intense hostility to higher education.

This is a long-standing trend, not a new development.

There are now enough states with Dem trifectas to pass the interstate compact on the national popular vote. The end of the Electoral college may be upon us.
November 4, 2026 at 12:57 PM
OMG, "no more Electoral College" would truly be the cherry on the wipeout sundae.
I'm not 100% on this, but I think enough state legislatures flipped just now that the National Popular Vote Compact finally has enough electoral votes to elect the President by popular vote in 2028.

Time to END the Electoral College.
