I hiked up to caherconree today to photograph the setting of my next book. It was both magical and very wet and now my feet hurt.

The chat also features both of us being total fanboys about Caherconree. An unbelievable site high in the Slieve Mish Mountains.

Both of us agreed it's of the most spectacular monuments in Ireland, but such a horrible slog to get to 😅

Cú Roí is said to have had a fortress in the Slieve Mish Mts that he could rotate and cover in mist, making it nearly impossible for attackers to find - anybody who has been to Caherconree will know that it can very quickly get covered by mist!

The stunning Caherconree hillfort in Co. Kerry is strategically set high up in the Slieve Mish Mts in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Named after the mythical Cú Roí mac Dáire, an ancient king of the province of Munster. #hillfortswednesday

I shot this on a Nikon D90 some years ago just using the 18-105mm kit lens (not a bad lens for what it is), it's a remote location in Ireland, Caherconree. This entire area is vast and untouched mostly and a pleasure to visit.
