This statement is outrageous. The U.S. State Department swearing loyalty to one religion violates the First Amendment. Government cannot privilege Christianity without erasing pluralism and democracy itself. This is state religion in defiance of the Constitution.

i agree many of us want that element of religion that takes us inward. in undrgrad I learned about how that dimension of Chrsitianity exists through centering prayer, the cloud of unknowing, and hesychasm; so i concluded that I don't need to reject Christianity to engage contemplative practice
