#Colnbrook-OPS
For Colnbrook OPS this week I have been working on a map where buildings can be grouped by date range. This is the 1939 group. Eventually the 1850 to 1934 tenements will be added. #OnePlaceWednesday #OnePlaceSudies.

Happy New Year everybody. On this day in 1715 John Burcombe, Weaver of Colnbrook married Elizabeth Howard at All Hallows Barking by the Tower. They probably lived on the south side of the High Street as all their six children were baptised in St Michael's Horton. #OnePlaceStudies #Colnbrook-OPS

#GenHour Now Colnbrook-OPS website is open www.colnbrook-ops.co.uk, I need to get the William Hammond Bailey's sorted out in who did what. There were three of them, Father, Son & Grandson. Which one ran the inn, Who became a lodging house keeper. And who lost another beer licence? #One-PlaceStudy

On this #OnePlaceWednesday I'm Indexing some parish records for Bucks FHS. Just by chance I have happened to be in the letter 'C' for #Colnbrook-OPS ! Colnbrook Chapel ( St Mary ) has a only a passing acquaintance with record keeping. That improved when St Thomas was built in 1852.

#Colnbrook #One-PlaceStudies After a quiet time on social media, I'm here to report that the Colnbrook OPS website www.colnbrook-ops.co.uk website is now an Open Site, not requiring a login to view the contents. There is still a lot of content to be created.

Today for #Colnbrook-OPS I’m enjoying the telling off the vicar received from the Registrar General for calling his parish ‘St Thomas’ instead of Colnbrook in Sept 1935 marriages return. The RG wants reasons for not complying in the future #OnePlaceStudies. Signed “Your obedient servant…

#Colnbrook-OPS #OTD in 1852 Thomas Ibotson Gent died and buried at Poyle United Reform Church. Shout out to @westmiddlesexfh.bsky.social for having the foresight to record the monumental inscriptions in 1986. The chapel was replaced with a block of flats. #OnePlaceStudies

The morning glow in Colnbrook-OPS are the runway lights of Heathrow airport #OnePlaceWednesday. In 1948 Heathrow nearly ended up with a Colnbrook phone number!

Today for #OnePlaceWednesday I'm going to ignore the rabbit hole of finding my Colnbrook #OPS appearing in a search of Coram Story database...

Weekend has been spent working on Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy where record keeping is being improved. Found that less than 47% of the people recorded were not in #Colnbrook-OPS. Now 52%. Either poor recording on my part or people are leaving to have children elsewhere. #oneplacestudies #QualityControl

#OnePlaceStudies #Colnbrook-OPS Brookmead, built in 1934 as a family home for and by Fred Sargeant. Extended over the years to become a guest house then later an Italian Restaurant. Being one to reuse material, the arched window must have been a bit of architectural salvage.

#GenHour Further to finding Colnbrook OPS mentioned in Coram Stories yesterday. John Woodfield was using his sister's Grocer Shop in Colnbrook as a post box. To stop the girl he got into trouble from finding him. It appear from the papers that he was a dubious cadd. #Colnbrook.

This #OnePlaceWednesday I have finished the sampling the Land Tax Record for Colnbrook-OPS. Once every 10 years. Unfortunately they end in 1830, leaving a gap before the census. It also appears that the Victualler's Licensing records fall short only getting to 1828.

This #OnePlaceWednesday I’m working to finish the Banns transcription of Iver the parish next to #Colnbrook-OPS. The study contains one significant Inn & farm in that parish. In the meantime here is a view of Market Square Aylesbury while waiting for @BucksArchives to open #OnePlaceStudies

I do like the old wills as they can say who was living in the property as it is passed on in the family. A lot of cottages / shops were rented. I have transcribed a lot of the PCC and local wills for Colnbrook OPS. But I have left the modern stuff for the moment. #GenHour

#GenHour Today in #Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy there has been a bit of organising as the records collected at Bucks Archives are checked. The Horton Land Tax is interesting a the Excise Officer's Spelling of names was very poor. I hope they could do sums better!
The Image is just a partial list. 😃

Interested in seeing the progress of Longford OPS. The next village to #Colnbrook-OPS on the Bath Road towards London. There will be an overlap, but that is part of the joy in #OnePlaceStudies.

Apologies for being quiet about Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy as I have been working on not my #OPS to talk at Ley Hill School. Only 3 houses but there are links to Metroland, Chesham Co-op, Lord Chesham, Chesham Urban District Council and a particular tea plantation in Sri Lanka. 🤔

From the list of medal card addresses , interesting confirmation of the use of the hostel at #Colnbrook-OPS . Originally for workers at Hawkers aircraft factory, was repurposed for demobbed soldiers after 1945 who needed assistance in civilian life. #OnePlaceStudies.
