October? More like Contober!
Because of all the Comic Cons I'm going to!

I'm going to Brighton Comic Con on Oct 4th
and MCM London Oct 23rd to 25th

That's two entire Comic Cons.

I’ve seen better cosplayers at cons. And not the big cons, like Dayton comic con.

UK comic cons that run Potter programming please take note.
It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Related: Reedpop cons strictly forbid AI at any exhibitor’s booth or AA table, as does Comic con.

Take note Fanexpo. Nobody wants slop. Ban it.
If FanExpo decides that they’re cool with having AI booths at their Canadian shows, expect them to continue with their U.S. shows. Megacon, Denver, Boston, Chicago, SF? All of them will have gAI booths. If you’re an attendee, make it known you won’t buy tickets to any show with AI.
Now that FanExpo is wrapped, I can say that while we were unsuccessful in getting the Bell AI booth removed, it created a big convo with both companies. I’m so proud of everyone who spoke up and made it an issue they couldn’t ignore.

comic cons are so funny bc it’s like some comic book veteran who’s worked on Superman for 50 years next to an artist who’s merch is just like “I’m a little froggy who loves to poop:)” 50 ways

Artist alleys at comic cons bum me out sometimes because I’ll see artists who’ve inspired me my whole life grinding away hour by hour when they should all be comfortable as hell and doing whatever they want, making whatever they want. I want that for everybody!
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

"I don’t get anything … that's the saddest part of my life"

So many people I know get ground down by webcomics because they have to make a million things that aren’t the comic to fund the production of the comic, but that saps all their energy for comics. They need to do cons to promote the comic, but they need a billion pieces of plastic garbage to do cons

Comic cons *do* make me a little sad because all these comic artists and writers I admire are frequently very clearly not doing amazing, and to be mad AS AN ADULT about them not living up to your eight-year-old self’s disneyfied expectations is absolutely unhinged sociopathy imho

Oh, good, the “administration” is going to ruin comic cons, too.

We tried to tell you idiots.
The good news? UK comic maker Becky Burke is home after being detained by ICE. The bad news, the new regime’s stricter reading of the previously ignored rules on work will catch others out coming to the US for comic events - comicon.com/2025/03/18/f...

Comic-Cons now joining the list of orgs more responsible than universities.
“The vast majority of the talent and agents at our events felt that these were a violation of their privacy and were damaging and spoiling the interactions at the tables. Several expressed concerns that they might not continue to attend in-person events if they were being recorded in secret.”
Meta glasses banned by Comic-Con promoter after 'secret filming'
A number of guests said they would be reluctant to appear at conventions again after cases of recordings taking place without their knowledge.
