I'm frustrated that we've learned nothing and are now dealing with five major infections at one right now: influenza, COVID-19, pertussis, RSV, and walking pneumonia.

Stay masked. Stay safe.

I had real hopes that COVID, as a mass-disabling event, would spur a sea change in disability acceptance and solidarity in left groups.

Instead, we have seen the exact opposite, as the left joins with the far right to memory-hole the trauma of COVID and pretend it never existed.
I will bang my pots and pans until I fall over but I’m old enough to remember when disabled solidarity was a point of pride in far left groups, I am so tired of his current streak of internet edgelordism

How has it been two weeks already?!

Anyway, for anyone wondering - the #criplib response to this article will be posted on Friday. Check the #criplib hashtag/Feed. I'm not sure which of us will be posting it, but we'll make sure to tag it.
Some #criplib folks are working on a response questioning the editorial process that allowed this article through as is. If anyone wants to join let me know and I'll get you connected.
If you read this article at a superficial level, it's confusing.

If you try to really understand what's being said, it's probably the most intellectually dishonest article I've seen since.... the last time I read a piece of conservative media that pretended to be moderate, I guess?

"I conclude with a call for library workers to reject the notion of neutrality entailed in EBP while instead aiming for a more robust perspective on librarianship through the lens of class liberation and solidarity."

"This paper explores the relationship between EBP as a system of knowledge governance, its implementation in library work, and the means by which librarians’ value-neutral commitments to EBP consequently serve the interests of oppressive regimes."

I have revived my disability+ libraries bibliography and moved it to a new site #CripLib 📚
Disability + Libraries Bibliography
A bibliography of writings about disability and libraries, with sections on disabled library workers, library service to patrons with disabilities, and meta-analysis/LIS education pieces.

I have a controversial opinion. What if we accommodated disabled people?

The bibliography on this article makes the original one look even worse, not that I thought that was possible. Nary a wikipedia post to be seen. Kudos to the #CripLib academic librarians. Brilliant, evicerating work.
