I have been to deextinction conferences with some of these people. I will never forget arguing with some of the scientists about bringing back Neanderthals.

Them: it would be so cool!

Me: leaving aside the questions about whether anything they could do would count as “bringing back” anything …

Maybe we can quit taking all that deextinction noise seriously and treat them like all the other tech companies that lied to credulous VC funders for 5 years and after failing to develop the product they were promising ran to the safety govt contracts

Who could have foreseen that the obviously fake “deextinction” company that genetically engineers very expensive dogs that look like dire wolves from GoT would end up doing evil animal eugenics for the government?

Critical metaphors reduced misinformation. The authors argue that metaphors act as epistemic conditioning devices: they shape judgments by structuring understanding.

Playing GOD? CRISPR, Artificial Wombs, & the New Era of Genetic Engineering with AI
What if extinction wasn't final? What if the next creature walking the Earth was engineered in a lab using AI and artificial wombs? In this mind-bending episode, we break down and react to Peter H. Diamandis’ explosive interview with Ben Lamm, serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Colossal Biosciences. Alongside genetics titan George Church, Lamm is spearheading the audacious mission to resurrect the iconic woolly mammoth—and the tech making it possible will leave you questioning everything you know about nature, evolution, and humanity's future. 🧬 Here is what we unpack in this thrilling deep dive: - Resurrecting the Extinct: How synthetic biology and advanced multiplex gene editing are bringing prehistoric species back from the dead. - Artificial Wombs Are Here: The rapid development of ex utero mammalian gestation tanks, scheduled to operate outside surrogates sooner than you think. - AI Meets Genetics: How frontier AI models are mapping complex biological datasets to decode life's source code at hyperspeed. - Disrupting Biology as an Outsider: Why Ben Lamm’s lack of a traditional science degree became his ultimate superpower. - The Ultimate Backup Plan: The race to construct planetary bio-vaults to safeguard endangered wildlife before biodiversity collapses. - Playing God or Saving the Planet? The high-stakes ethical dilemmas, ecological risks, and conservation breakthroughs altering our biosphere forever. Are we witnessing the greatest conservation breakthrough in human history, or are we recklessly opening a real-life Jurassic Park? Tune in to get the unfiltered facts, disruptive tech breakthroughs, and future-defining debates. ✨ Loved this deep dive? Colossal Biosciences is literally bringing extinct animals back to life.

Founded in 2021, they have already brought back three dire wolf pups and are now working on the dodo bird.

They're usinge using CRISPR gene editing to do it.

Most think I hate @itiscolossal.bsky.social – I don't. The biotech they develop, if successful, will change medicine forever – simple genetic diseases? Gone. Infertility? Gone. Ways to improve crop yields? Done. It's their #DeExtinction #DisInformation campaign to gain notoriety that I object to...
The genome engineering tools @itiscolossal.bsky.social is developing could be useful in the conservation toolbox, but they won't be a panacea or silver bullet. Conservation will come down to the grunt work of predator control, habitat restoration, translocations, & captive breeding programmes. 4/6

Scientists are trying to bring extinct animals back to life.

They compare DNA from extinct species with closely related living animals.

One major target is bringing back mammoth like traits using elephants.

Molecular Resurrection: Was Ancient Mummification Actually ALIEN Cryo-Technology?
👽 Did Ancient Civilizations Possess the Keys to Molecular Resurrection? Ever wondered why the ancients were so obsessed with preserving the dead? It wasn't just a religious ritual—it was a biological mimicry of high-tech suspended animation. In this episode, we expose the shocking theory that early humans witnessed 'Sky Gods' entering metallic biostatic chambers and spent millennia trying to copy them using salt and linen. From the Inca Ice Maiden to the Egyptian Necropolis, we dive into how mummification secrets were actually attempts to create a biological time capsule for future genetic resurrection. We explore: - 🧬 Molecular Resurrection: Why modern DNA sequencing is finally fulfilling an ancient alien agenda. - 🚀 Cryo-Chambers of Osiris: The evidence that sarcophagi were modeled after extraterrestrial cryo-pods. - 💉 Ancient Bio-hacking: How Anunnaki medical knowledge and the divine origin of acupuncture reveal a lost 'bio-circuitry' of the human body. - 🌌 The Afterlife Paradox: Is the journey to the stars actually a hidden manual for interstellar travel? This isn't just history—it's the intersection of paleogenetics and CRISPR de-extinction. We're bridging the gap between prehistoric myth and futuristic cloning technology to ask: Are we finally 'unlocking' the dead as intended? Join the conversation and uncover the truth behind our celestial origins. ✨ Subscribe now to stay ahead of the narrative and share this episode with a fellow truth-seeker!
