There's a trend pointed at here that I see increasingly. It’s a little fuzzy, but broadly it’s around the idea that meaning must be fixed, literal, and “scientific.”

I can’t believe there’s controversy over sprayed edges on books and it’s just whether it’s frivolous or not.
I feel like when ebooks are easier to obtain, and often cheaper, hardcover physical books *should* be beautiful objects. Should feel luxurious.

I read lots of YA bc it’s where interesting SFF stuff is happening, but that also means I also start reading a lot of stuff that’s not great and boy howdy let’s talk about the normalization of white Christian society in dystopian YA stuff.
