#DemoCoding
One of the finest DOS democoding tutorials I've read in recent years. Translate from Russian to your local language: habr.com/ru/articles/...

И снова приветствую всех любителей олдскула, демосцены и олдскульной демосцены. Это вторая часть разбора DOS-демки "Remoded" и, соответственно, эффектов, основанных на аппаратных особенностях...

I don't know the exact day, but it's around 30 years since my game Speed Haste came out www.mobygames.com/game/14257/c...

Written almost entirely from scratch in 11 months, the whole year was a blur of gamedev, democoding, job, university, weekend clubbing, cigarettes and late nights/early mornings
Circuit Racer (1995) - MobyGames

Super simple and tiny WebGL bootstrap to make a WebGL Canvas and attach a Fragment/Vertex shader for demo-coding fun. Using #vite to build/develop with. Has a simple texture loader and mouse event class hooked into the uniforms. #webgl #twgljs #shaders #democoding

Really appreciate the background and taking the time to write it up (and appreciate the stunning demo too). I wrote the loader, API, and some of the tooling for our last two demos, and I think democoding "plumbing" deserves more coverage. Many thanks to you and @h0ffman.bsky.social and the crew.

The best part about coding as many demos as you can in a short time after not democoding for 5-ish years is that you end up writing a LOT of tools.

MAN, do I *LOVE* writing tools!?! (yes)

If you need someone to write tools for you, hmu; I need a job and genuinely absolutely adore deving tools!

I mean I welcome any and all help/advice :D
I'm a total newbie when it comes to both M68k asm & democoding on the ST.

In the past four days I've written 12 effects/screens for a shitty megademo thing for Assembly and this has been a ton of fun :)

In the last two weeks I've written a 1k, almost finished a 4k and now am maybe halfway through this demo.

Democoding is lots of fun even if you're kinda not great at it.

I was a "jock" - though in the UK so we had different names. I was also a nerd - busy doing democoding on my Atari ST. And my fellow gym rats were also nerds. We were aware of the stereotype and fought it. If we heard about bullies - well, last thing they want is an actual big boi in their face.
