Remember the DolphinDOS x JiffyDOS patch for the #C64? It uses some of the superior disk routines from Dolphin with the Jiffy fastloader so you don’t need a parallel cable (just the Jiffy ROM in the disk drive). I just put it on my #C64Ultimate. Also: rainbow startup screen! csdb.dk/release/?id=...

A quirk of C64 CP/M is that it defers I/O to the standard C64 kernal rom and 6502. Therefore if you have a floppy speeder that replaces the kernal rom it will speed up CP/M also. I have tried JiffyDOS, DolphinDOS and SpeedDOS (although not extensively).

Brandon Staggs has a benchmarking tool he's written for the C64, which measures load speeds for the 1541 and its modified brethren, and he's found that the unmodified 1541 as sold at launch was capable of reading files in at around 400 bytes per second: www.obliterator918.com/dtb/ 4/

The ones that I've tested seem to work alright. Have you run into certain ones that don't work that should?

I meant the speed is quite slow in loading the images still, other than TurboTape being used on a few of them.

Jiffy/Jaffy/DolphinDOS and all of that don't like disk G64 V-MAX! images.

Yes, based on the Jiffy ROM. The patch adds some routines from DolphinDOS into it (and the changed startup screen).
