Like, do these guys not realise the movie will be carried to success by Indian viewers and not the North American viewers? You are supposed to make movies for your people; why would western audiences even care about our epics with that poor CGI spectacle?

i really need to at some point write some version of lament & z talking about heroic epics & folktales & whatnot because it is like, a common "interest" for them/something they share from their respective childhoods but also they look at them so differently

i whiffled a bit on reccing any skirts fic since... well it's skirts, all his work is excellent and known to an extent. still, i noticed his later work never quite got the attention that BP and epics like Austraeoh netted. a shame really, he only got better in my opinion.

Good question. I don't think it will take too long. I'm excluding EPs and side projects and the majority of the tracks are pretty short. I would not even try to attempt this if Pollard was writing 8 minute epics on every album. :)

Hitchcock + it's not like studio directors in the 50s (Fleischer, Aldrich) didn't make thrillers in between Roman epics but there has been a turning point where horror represents a greater percentage of the box office than it ever has and I think that's translating into greater industry acclaim
Am I right in thinking the idea of horror as a specialty for a mainstream (rather than B-movie) director is a fairly recent development

I have not look at a single line of code for months. I have epics with 80 issues that are generated, reviewed and merged overnight. Previous planing, design and a good harness are key. If you review the lines of code instead of doing black box testing you won't be able to scale AI.

I actually think Titanic is a fantastic throwback to the era of huge Hollywood epics, but as for True Lies, I picked it first because it was a megahit but is now only really remembered if you were there for it, unlike Terminator 1+2 which are still considered mega classics.

I found it really neat for Reality Hunger bring up sub-section 12 (of chapter b). "Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, c. 800 b.c., are epics told in verse, not novels..." Structurally the page, and skimming over the other chapters, seem to retain the "verse" structure being talked about #realityhunger

I actually tend to think of the "Epic of Gilgamesh" and Homeric epics as being more foundational to Western fantasy, whereas Arthurian legend is just a flavor of that (although, yes, it is a good example of later authors emulating tropes perceived as successful, true)~

The book is partially inaccurate. It correctly dates Hindu sacred texts to around 1400 BCE but it wrongly labels the Vedas as storytelling. The Vedas are books containing hymns and rituals. Hindu storytelling began centuries later with the grand epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
