A lovely acceptance today from Stoat Poetry. 'If you care' is going to be my first poem published about living with FND, a condition that has completely changed my life. It's scary putting something so personal into the world, but I know this one has found the perfect home x

FNDs can be tricky to understand an diagnose.

You are valid. Your oain and struggle is also valid.

it feels like one of those things that gets conceptualized validly for extreme cases of FND and then goes on to be applied to basically everything ambiguous

🧠 Get the facts about FND and explore some of the most common misconceptions in our latest Healthy Living article:
Myths and Facts about Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) | Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM)
Imagine waking up and suddenly having trouble walking, problems with your vision, or experiencing seizure-like episodes, only to be told that all your labs and scans appear normal. Many living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) have had this experience.

FND can involve weakness, tremors, sensory changes, vision or speech symptoms, and seizure-like episodes. Understanding what FND is - and what it isn’t - is an important step toward better recognition, support, and care.

“Your scans are normal, so nothing is wrong.”
❌ Myth.

For people living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), symptoms can be very real and sometimes disabling - even when routine scans don’t show visible injury.

relapse, apparently

but it really is shonky reasoning, no one really knows what triggers FND and presumably if it was ‘needles’ then that would extend to any type of venipuncture

My hand and arm is twitching like Judy Finnegan on This Morning eying up a bottle of vino.

Cheers to the functional tremor caused FND

For me, the specialist nature of secondary healthcare can’t cope with multifaceted health problems. More research is needed but also a doctors that look at the issue holistically rather than the merry go round that typically ends in psychiatry or neurology with an fnd or mh diagnosis

my hospital network diagnosed it as FND/conversion disorder. all delays in care are on them. I made a Stanford appt with an actual CSF leak expert and within 30 seconds he was like "yeah sounds like a leak" and then... located and patched it when I finally made the 2 week trip

how could you know/demonstrate if you'd been symptom free for five years when p much anything can come under FND

Hey @tomkindlon.bsky.social

Are you familiar with FND? It’s a complex disorder that’s currently not classified correctly as neurological under the SSA.

I’m working to change this. If you would help us by taking a look and sharing the petition below I would greatly appreciate it.

Been thinking a lot woth all my own bullshirt lately--genuine question: Have you seen overlap between CPTSD and FND, especially/specifically in folks with unresolved emotional responses to past physical traumas? (If that question makes sense, it is late and I am tired.)
