Fixit Clinics are free workshops where people bring broken stuff—from bikes to blenders to blazers—and volunteer Fixit Coaches share their time, tools, and know-how to help troubleshoot and (hopefully) repair items.

#Boston: #ArtisansAsylum in #Allston hosts a free, public #Fixit Clinic on Thursday Aug 28 starting at 630pm.I hope to attend - Is anyone else interested to join? https://www.eventbrite.com/e/artisans-asylums-inaugural-fixit-clinic-tickets-1607447742469 "We're excited to partner with Peter Mui and the existing #FixitClinic network and the City of Boston's Environment Department to bring you Artisans Asylum's inaugural Fixit Clinic! Fixit Clinics are do-it-together community-based exploration workshops staffed by volunteer Fixit Coaches who generously share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of items. Bring your broken belongings -- electronic gadgets, vital appliances, cherished toys, bicycles, fabric items, jewelry etc.-- for assessment, disassembly, and hopefully repair! Fixit Coaches will be available for consultation: we will provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether you fix your item or not, you'll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked, ready to share your new-found confidence and insight with your friends, neighbors, and the community at large." #DIY #RepairCafe #RightToRepair #Massachusetts #enshittification

Peter Mui, founder of the Fixit Clinic (@fixitclinic) in Berkeley, will discuss California’s new law empowering consumers to repair their own items. He’ll be joined by the team from KQED’s The Bay podcast to explore the movement’s appeal and what the law means for consumers. The event will also include a hands-on workshop—register to bring your broken items and learn how to fix them! Get your tickets at the link in @kqed's bio, or at kqed.org/events.".
