Here's a little extra detail from the Lindisfarne Gospels in closeup with one of our newly-identified leaves. See the quoted thread for a link to our note and an abstract.

My man looks like the kind of Christian who spends all his time quoting Deuteronomy while ignoring the gospels

There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone seeking solace in the Gospels, people
Ana Kasparian (formerly an atheist) talks about how she finds solace in the Gospels. But she's not ready to open up about it further.

"When I read these verses, it reminds me like, if you behave this way, if more and more people behave this way, well by definition the world becomes a better place."

So, @themedievaldrk.bsky.social and I did a thing.

This article identifies two newly discovered manuscript fragments, both in private ownership, as having been written in early-eighth-century Northumbria by Eadfrith, the artist-scribe of the Lindisfarne Gospels. +

“Christ would have never been crucified if only the Apostles worked harder to stay awake” is missing the entire point of the Gospels.

It took six seasons, but The Chosen has finally got to the part of the Gospels where the Na'vi do Assassins Creed through Gethsemane to surround the Lord.

Think about it. Tonight, Kansas and Texas are sending two ordained ministers to the United States Senate. Not poseurs. Real men of faith who live the Gospels. And they’re Democrats. Awesome.

The Jews were witnesses to the creation of Christianity; which gives a motive to why the Romans would try to eliminate them & why they would hate them enough to mock them & paint them as enemies to Christian believers.

We also noted the similarity of the red capitals used for the INCIPIT on the James leaf to incipits/explicits for the Lindisfarne Gospels capitula. Here's the James incipit with a detail from LG 131v, which we didn't have room to reproduce in our note.

Also, don’t read The Scarlet Gospels.

“Christ would have been saved if the Apostles stayed awake” is literally missing the entire point of the Gospels.

I’m not Christian, but I believe that there are passages in the Gospels in which Jesus would essentially be frowning on spectacles like this.
No sissy boys, eh? How about we go one on one, Mr. Reverend sir.

I still think it was a major mistake for ancient Jews to let the Christians appropriate Jesus from us

The three Synoptic Gospels are Jewish literature, about a Jewish character, written by Jews, for Jews

We shoulda held onto his story as a cautionary tale about mortality and would-be messiahs!

My favorite from a stacked career. Unbelievably great collection.

If THE SCARLET GOSPELS was an all time fumble, Ballingrud scooped the ball, ran 80 yards, and scored a walk-off touchdown.
Pleasantly and frantically busy all Oct so my reading kinda nosedived - plus the library is on strike - but countered w 6 of the most Metal AF shorts ever from Ballingrud. Huge imagination, precise writing, gonzo horror right up to the edges of hell. Hail satan, read fiction.

It's also a terribly inefficient way to read the Gospels.
November 4, 2026 at 1:04 AM
I must have read the wrong gospels.

At least half the gospels are about healthcare. Jesus wants people to have healthcare.
October 31, 2026 at 9:29 PM
None of the Gospels were written by people who had actually met Jesus. It's all stories and hearsay.

Well, Tex, REAL Christians actually line up for Talarico, whose Christianity lines up with the teachings in the Gospels.
