A small example, I went on Graphtreon the other day, which shows Patreon performance over time, and with one exception every single account I support or have ever supported is precipitously down over the last three years.

I agree that "leftist" identity means absolutely nothing in terms of whether or not you're a sex pest, but Christ, Will, there's "prominent celebrity" and then there's "one-third of the 177th most popular podcast on Patreon."

It's absolutely disgusting to imply you are struggling for rent money when you make on the order of 10,000/month from Patreon alone (estimate from graphtreon). Doubly so when you steal content from actual writers who haven't created a money making contraption.

The problem is, Patreon has to maintain the illusion of following the rules. But some of the top adult content creators on there have accounts while are entirely themed around content which breaks their guidelines. According to Graphtreon, I was in the top 2000 Patreon creators, both NSFW and SFW.

According to Graphtreon (graphtreon.com) my Okazu patreon account is in the top 10% of all accounts. If you look at the number of patrons I have, it doesn't seem possible, but I have a very high $/patronage. There's no magic trick, but I'll tell you for free what I do to get to this point. 1/x

I am sort of already well along a similar trajectory in the sense that my public-facing writing (non-fiction) in this case, is what supports me and, uh, I actually make more on that basis (when adding in my teaching) than most of my tenure-track or even tenured colleagues.

And why yes, I have considered the viability of working outside of academia.
I considered it back in 2020 when the job market froze up and have proceeded with a, uh, multi-axis operational strategy since.
