i have one that measures my hrv every morning and is like "based on your reports and sleep quality and hrv, take it easy on yourself today". it does this every day

1) 🇩🇪 This German study will test the feasibility of home-based diagnostics in patients with severe and very severe ME/CFS (Bell score < 30).

They plan to take blood and saliva samples, questionnaires and measurements such as ECG, ultrasound, pupillary responses, HRV, etc.

Day 203 - Broken cloud, calm, warm, dry.
More relaxed recovery running based on Garmin's 'strained' diagnosis from HRV over the last few weeks. In other news, my favourite foraged food is back on the menu. Chanterelle season is in full swing 🤤

How I use my HRV-based apps each morning:

First I use the #VisibleHealth app to measure my 'Morning Stability' 👇

Today, it's identified that my heartrate is 10 b.p.m. higher than usual and my HRV* is down.

*HRV = Heartrate Variability

from my very limited understanding, this is based on HRV so it can't measure emotional "stress", only physical.
And even then, HRV varies from person to person, & w/ age, fitness, habits etc so a good HRV for one person might be a bad one for another.
so hopefully your results are just distorted :)

So watch based HRV is not to be relied upon, but the overall trend that says "you were doing much better when you were on holiday" seems plausible.

It’s not just HR it pulls, it’s HRV which my Apple Watch checks several times during both day and night, and does so automatically.

It’s bizarre that Visible is based on ONE reading and even with the band has to logged manually 🤷🏻‍♀️

Way before additional apps/trackers HRV drops were huge ‼️ to rest

R-R interval/ECG = necessary for reliable HRV analysis, especially daytime or movement-based use.

Patients with PEM benefit more from pacing & energy conservation than exercise-focused treatments. This video covers tools like symptom-based pacing, task analysis, & HRV tracking to manage symptoms.

Pacing for PEM/PESE
Patients who have post-exertional malaise (PEM/PESE) generally benefit more from pacing and energy conservation than exercise-focused treatments. Pacing for PEM/PESE involves managing exertion to stay under the threshold that causes increased symptoms or post-exertional malaise. While pacing is not a cure for PEM/PESE, it is an effective management strategy. Pacing and energy conservation approaches need to be individualized for each patient. This video covers how therapy providers can use biofeedback pacing, task analysis, activity logs, and heart rate variability tracking to assist patients with pacing to reduce their symptoms. Note to community members: We advise viewers to always speak with their medical care team prior to making any adjustments or changes to their current regimen. This video was made possible by the OMF-funded Medical Education Resource Center (MERC) at BHC, our generous donors, and viewers like you.

#WQuers I feel HEAPS better today.

And here is a physiological measure

Yesterday, very low body battery. Good night's sleep (?? guessing), MUCH better battery this morning. Today will be gym day!

For clarity, the stress measure is physiological stress, based on HRV, heart rate variable.

Garmin's readiness is a black box—you don't get to see what it's actually weighing. Mode gives you your HRV and recovery score and tells you straight: go hard or rest based on what your body did, not what some algorithm guessed.

Just re-read your post and see how mad it is.
Take the tech off for 2 weeks. Just get used to how you feel exercising. I've been running for 40 years and love tech, but it's just a tool. The science on HRV is not clear cut. A wrist based device relying on lights to detect is far from foolproof.

I only use the free version of Visible (check-ins twice a day to check HRV and symptoms, but no continuous monitoring) partially for this reason. I mainly pace based on how I feel, not data.
