Sound the HTMX klaxon!
"To me this is one of the more interesting charts. In a sense, the whole point of a framework is to reduce the amount of code you need to maintain."

what were the main reasons behind moving away from htmx specifically?
October 30, 2026 at 4:08 PM
Completely unrelated to the Tangled change, I also recently replaced htmx with Svelte in one of my side projects.

I still think it was a good idea to start off with htmx.

same app. 12 frameworks. claude opus 5.5 built it each time

cheapest: hono + htmx, $2.67 a run
priciest: angular, $4.97 (86% more, ~2.5x nuxt's tokens)

your framework has a token bill now

wait, is this thing just, htmx with a paid version?

The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks. Nolan Lawson had agents build the same app in 12 setups: Hono with htmx was the cheapest, Astro the quickest, and Angular the most expensive and slowest. #js #ai

基幹システムをpythonにするって言ったらみんなえーっていったけど、htmx+pythonでやると原稿と同じレイアウトの売上伝票のCRUDがすぐにできてしまった。

Once you get on the locality of behaviour train, it’s hard to get off. Same applies for HTMX.

This is less interesting to me for the winners (it's a content site, so no surprise Astro and htmx win most of them). It's that frameworks beat vanilla every time. This backs up my observations that LLMs are better with frameworks. It stops them burning tokens reinventing the wheel each time.
Nolan Lawson benchmarked the AI cost of JS frameworks (data, not vibes).

@nuxt.com looks great for the agentic era:
- Fewest tokens (even less than vanilla JS)
- Near-top cost + time per run
- 2nd-fewest LOC to maintain

Cheapest code is what the agent never writes.

The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks
One of my pet peeves with the web development community is that so many of the decisions we make are vibes-based. Frameworks are “blazing fast,” tools will…

no ur right it brokey i was relying on the htmx server side rendering before and i haven't built it in a while lol

been meaning to set up caching for it so it doesn't take 1 hour to build each time but there were some bugs with spindle caching which are now fixed i just haven't had the time

Same spec, same agent: one app built across 12 JS frameworks cost $2.67 (Hono+htmx) to $4.97 (Angular) per run — Angular failed twice. Framework choice now has an agent-cost dimension.
