Sen. Eric Schmitt:
"What would you say if I had a series of text messages from your team that said you were in Atlanta, counting HAWKS at a HAWKWATCH on August 24th, 2026?"

"I will give you a second to process it so you don't perjure yourself."

Went to the Celebration of Flight, a local annual event by Hawkwatch International to watch the seasonal hawk migrations through South Texas. I brought my Garudamon to join me since I figured she'd want to see her feathered cousins 🦅

Yesterday at the new Mount Zion Hawkwatch, north of Lookout Mountain, Colorado. What a blast.

Today’s hawkwatch was very, very slow. Basically a single Sharp-shinned among the residents.
It was much warmer than yesterday, and the wind was SEerly, so probably that was it. Still, a big dropoff from yesterday‘s busy time.

Now that hawkwatch season is underway, my lunchtime naps are definitely more effective. It’s a bit unfortunate that it can take several hours to fully wake up from them, but I’m sure my wife understands..

We were greeted with 90 degrees, high humidity and lots of gnats to start our 21st season on the old landfill. Only one migrant recorded this female Northern Harrier. Several TVs and Cooper’s Hawks seen as well as RTs and Am Kestrel.
